Doesn't it feel good to have an aggressive, offensive minded head coach who doesn't mind to step on the throat of an opponent? Less than 1:30 left in the 1st half and calling timeout still trying to score even though the game is already out of reach. Still running plays when kneel downs would suffice to most towards the end of the game. Attack, attack, attack! Tennessee football has an identity now. Relentless until the end.

Agree. But I will point out that the last TD wasn't necessarily an attempt to score, their D just failed one last time.

JMO, but I think pulling your starters is letting your foot off the gas. When the backups are playing they should run the offense. Only time to kneel is the end of a close game.

Agree - Florida was attempting to score on us - passing with less than 2 minutes left in the game - we were running clock.

Missouri fired their defensive line coach today.... Heupel effect... yep !
Well, someone had to answer for the ultra-poor defense, and it just wasn't the Tennessee game. TN's OL was having their way and no one on Mizzo's D could tackle, it really was a pathetic non-performance by Mizzo. It was great to see TN score at will, but Mizzo looked worse than Vandy, and that's saying a lot.

The last time UT caused an opposing football coach to be fired...ummm...I got nothing. Just one win, but like how JH was pretty even headed...good win but much to improve. If our guys keep buying in and we keep unforced errors to a minimum, I think we'll get to a bowl game as a minimum...and with things as crazy as they are below UGA and Bama, there's always a chance for us to finally be on the good side of chaos.

Wow. Could not afford to buy out the DC so booted Jethro. Thick as a Brick. Never should have fired Brick Haley last year.

For me, "a defense that attacks from first play til their tongues hang out late in an apparent loss (like Fla) or in a win (like Mo).

If I’m coach, I’m going to keep scoring until you can stop me. Missouri couldn’t do that. So we ran right over em.

To be brutually frank, Missouris defense was not as good as Tenn Tech. The whole team actually seemed to quit early on. That head coach is all but gone.
It was our defense that was the difference maker in the game. Though their defense was among the worst in the country, their offense was rated 26th (NCAA) while TN was 20th. should have been a scoring duel. Our D didn't allow it.

The game was over by the 4th quarter, but for some reason my DVR quit recording by then (I have YouTube TV, fwiw) so I didn't get to see the 4th quarter. I was told Hooker stayed in the entire game. Was there a particular reason he wasn't pulled (to give another QB reps and to keep Hooker from getting hurt)?

That was Spurrier's style. I remember him being accused of running up the score on an opponent and he said I am still going to call scoring plays when my reserves are in the game. They practice hard and deserve to get to score TD's to. Not my problem if you cannot stop them.

I agree with that. A lot of coaches put the reserves in and just call up the middle run plays being a nice guy. Not fair to those guys nor do they learn anything.

I would say the athletic department, players, and fans are ALL very disappointed Missouri hired Drinkwitz instead of Coach Heupel.

Good Point. We don't have the depth of other teams. Backups needed meaningful snaps.

Milton played one series, or maybe 2.

And it appeared to me that when Hooker was still in in the 4th quarter, he was told to go down if he ran the ball so he didn't take any unnecessary hits.

This is their worst defeat since joining the SEC; only UGA came close with a 34 point thumping. They're a poor team but still an SEC team.

Will it translate to long-term success? Who the hell knows, but smacking an SEC team so badly they give up and CJH stating the team has more gas in the tank, is a positive sign. I don't recall Butch or Pruitt once expressing that kind of confidence, but may have missed it. We see a short roster being used to get more from it, in contrast to a full roster of underachievers under Pruitt and Jones. To date, Heupel has earned the benefit of doubt and support.

Even as we hold our breath.
