Was truly the greatest thing on any local TV station for many years. The episodes were so well produced, hauntingly so, at times. Bill Landry was the perfect host for the stories and vignettes that weekly showed us our history and sometimes told surprising tales that would have, otherwise, never been known to the majority of us in TN. My grandmother and grandfather were both on a couple of episodes. Do you have any specific episodes you were fond of or were personally tied to?

There are so many great ones. Always look forward to the April Fool ones. Love when Bill is in the Kitchen with the ladies or the ones about places in Gatlinburg of people and places I know. Great music. Just a great series. I would love to have them on DVD but they're so expensive.

I think Freak should give every member with over 6,000 posts a DVD set of The Heartland Series for Christmas. And a bonus set to SpecailKVolfan for giving me the idea.

I am fortunate enough to own the whole series minus the specials and anniversary edition. I love the halloween ones and my favorite is the "picking mallows" also an April Fools joke :)

My whole 5th grade class was on one of them, but I never have seen it. We did a program about appalachian life.

Good.

I had to teach a few thousand people the correct way to say it at a convention in Chicago last year. People that say, Ap-uh-lA-shen (mostly people that don't live here) pizzes me off.

I really enjoyed those growing up in East Tennesseee.
He had such a comforting voice.

Bill Landry dropped by the orthodontist office the day I got my braces put on. He was friends with my orthodontist.

Episode about the Melungeons is on right now. Unfortunately, Landry has Brent Kennedy on to give the story of this no longer mysterious group of people from Hancock County. Kennedy's been proven to be a charlatan.
