The Hater’s Guide To Taylor Swift

What is she, 20? I'm not a fan of her music, she seems to be just another cookie cutter pop singer, but her writing songs geared to an audience she herself was in just a few years ago doesn't seem that hypocritical to me. Especially considering, in many cases, songs that make it on an album may have been written sometimes years in advance. It's not like she's 40 writing these songs. Hating them because they suck seems more appropriate to me.

It's not the epitome of hypocrisy but it's worse than the writer of the article, to which I see none.

yep she is young .. makes you wonder how she made it .. her voice is not great judging from her live performances on tv over the last year .. it's not like she missed a note here or there ... she was off key in large chunks of the songs ...

does she have a domineering mother or father who has an 'in' in the record business?

She's cute, writes songs and plays guitar. No matter how bad she is at them, 13 y/o girls and soccer moms don't realize it or just don't care. The all American can go far with marginal talent.

Regardless what you think of her music, Americans think she's a positive alternative to what the early 2000's put out (Spears) and people have embraced the change.

I may not be buying her albums now, but I would not hesitate to if my daughter was older and asked for one.

I just don't see any hypocrisy from her or from the writer. I read the article yesterday and had the same hang up. I agreed with him when he criticized the elementary level of song writing, just felt he missed with the hypocrisy angle.

But now I have given way too much serious thought to a Drew Magary post on Deadspin.

I'd agree with all of this.
