In 1980-81, Indiana lost to Texas-Pan American. The Hoosiers were so destroyed by that loss that they went on to win the NCAA Tournament.

I know we're at odds on Coach Knight, but does he have a team that can compete for the Big 12 or for that matter national prominance this year?

I think that depends on if the team REALLY believes in him and the product he is selling. You can't ever count our BK making it to the tourney, IMO.

Hman, they're not good enough to finish ahead of Kansas, Texas, or A&M. They could finish anywhere from 4th to 10th in the Big XII. After the big 3, that league is wide open.
