Can he not throw it more than 50 yards? That was just strange
He's never been known for his arm strength. I thought they might bring in GMac to heave it.

Sooooo many what ifs in that game. If Mike gets his head turned around faster on the 4th down play and blocks the trailing safety, Star Thomas would have had a TD. That was just a brilliant play call.

It amazes me the folks that categorically dismiss the concept of any moral victories that feel comfortable sharing or backslapping moral defeats!

I think he can throw it far enough but just didn’t step into right

Exactly, Mike Matthews should have bought a ticket for that play, go block someone!

He was also throwing into the wind. The entire 4th quarter I was worried we would be put into a FG situation again at the end of the game. Glad it didn’t come to that.

We were sitting near the other end of the stadium on the home side by the flagpole and the wind was whipping. I think that’s why State decided to play the OT on the other end right in front of our band.

This game shows that our talent level has increased to the point that we can play a lousy game on the road against a decent team and win. Last year we would have lost this game possibly by several scores.

Easily. The one he threw to Brazzell was over 50. Watching live it looked like it slipped from his hand a bit. I didn't even bother reading the other ridiculous thread regarding arm strength. He has plenty.

The almost disaster was setup by poor clock management by Heup - both halves.

He put a ton of air underneath it. He can throw it further with a lower arc.

But yeah, the arm strength is very average. Not terrible, but not great.
Looks like over all he has plenty of arm strength, but he does tend to get a lot of air under the ball. Just needs a little more work on the mechanics maybe.
