The Gruden Effect

Man I wish gruden would just come out and tell everyone that he isn't coming to UT so we can move on to other coaches names that would more likely end up here.

Thank you, recruiting forum, for being rational for once. :)

The FF guys that have spilled over to the rumors forum seem to believe Gruden would instantly flip the better half of Bama and LSU's classes, because he would instantly make UT that much more desirable than those two schools.

Saben will have no pity on this fool.

I just read that Arkansas is looking to land Butch Davis as their next HC. Be interesting as the dominoes continue to fall.

Gruden to Tennessee is NOT going to happen! We need tosupport the coaches and the players that we have! Did you not watch the SC game today. Tennessee is close. Let's get behind this team! They are close to being really good! When the defense catches up, we'll all be happy!!!

LOL @ Tennessee being close. Dude this was the year to do it if they were ever going to under Dooley and he came up 0-5 again in the quality win department. Next year will be worse when Hunter, Patterson and Bray are all off to the NFL.

Yep talent level is about to cycle down again. If Dooley is retained in a couple of years the level of talent on the team might make 09-10 look loaded.

See Saban at Bama and Calipari at UK. Right coach at right place equals big time recruiting.
If Saban went to Ole Miss their recruiting would skyrocket.

UT has all the ingredients to showcase Gruden. Great facilities, great tradition, and great stadium. Just add Gruden.

There is not really much comp from elite WR's, so JH will still go 1st round.

Every current projection I have seen has Hunter 1st rd and CP at best 2nd rd. They draft on potential and JH is the ideal prototype WR for the NFL.

BTW D Thomas projected in 2nd rd right now. NFL draft always helps teams in recruiting and UT appears to have a solid draft coming up.

CP is stronger just as fast better hands both about the same height and he'll go over the middle fearless while hunter seems scared to popped by a SS

im takin CP all day

i could still see hunter being great in the league and proving to be well worth a 1st rounder but going off this yr i want CP

UT is breaking the mold.

Now, if Saban leaves for Cleveland and Billicheck goes to Bama, I swear I'll have a stroke.

Just can't see Saban attempting the NFL again. If I had to bet he wants to be the first college coach to win a NC at 3 different schools and if Texas opens up I could see him bolting for that. Easy to recruit to and could have many chances to win a NC there.jmo

Saban is not going to the NFL. He is about total control and none of them have total control. In addition, NFL players do not let coaches lead them around by the nose as they do in college.

Got to get off press coverage. That aint Hunters strong suit. They don't let you just run downfield wide open. Got to compete for balls on the air if you do get downfield. Again, not Hunters strong suit. But he will test and workout well. That will get him drafted. CP is in need of route running skills. But he can return kicks right now. Wish he ran back punts for us. Tired of DY. As far as Bray, 3rd or 4th rounder. They all should stay. But I doubt it. The only senior to stay at UT was Manning. Every other one I can recall left. We have not had a legit senior in forever. And our juniors rarely win anything before they leave anyway.

Big John Henderson stayed for senior season

Most of you Grudenites are just bandwagon jumpers. Gruden is not a winner. He took a team that Dungy built to the Super Bowl and, like Fulmer, the WL record went in the tank and the Bucs fired him. By the way, his first NFL owner, crazy Al Davis traded him to Tampa for some players.

I know some have this man crush on him because he can make some fantastic facial expressions, but I don't believe he is what UT needs. Besides, why would he leave his cushy MNF job and come to UT. He realizes he will flat line the WL record and you same howlers will be parking moving vans in his front yard in 3 years.

Fire Dooley and we will get another second rate mid major "up and comer" because the top notch coaches know their fate is bound to be the same as Dooley. Forget about Gruden. He is not a proven winner and he is playing us to get big raises from MNF.

This line of thinking is beyond annoying. If Gruden 'won' with 'Dungy's' team then he beat his own team that also made it to the Super Bowl. Davis traded Gruden because he wasn't winning the way Al wanted him to win. While Al was right about Kiffin, he still was out there with his line of thinking the last 10 years he was alive. Gruden would be an excellent hire.
