The good:
a check mark in the W column
Florida lost
A promising stable of RBs
Florida lost
QB play was good
Florida lost
Lots of experience for non-starters
Florida lost
No lost turnovers
Florida lost

The bad
While interceptions were promising, there were too many blown coverages
OL is still not there
DL/LB must improve to compete in the SEC
ETSU is not upper echelon in the So Con

The sorta ugly
Lethargic early
Tend to depend on big plays
Absence of JJ
UGA looked strooooooooooong

All in all, a step forward in learning to win games. And …. Florida lost!

I agree to a point.
Big plays can cause D's to think twice about stacking the line

UGA is going to be uber strong for the foreseeable future. I think some still haven’t realized what Smart has built already and incorrectly lump him in as another Richt.

The good
Passing was effective
Running was effective
Special teams got us points
Defense had multiple interceptions
Lots of batted balls
Gooden and Phillips are starting to produce
There were not a lot of blown coverages as is proven by ETSU being 12-29 for just 69 yards.
No touchdowns were given up by the defense
Only 3 penalties the entire game
The deep ball was thrown and connected multiple times
We do have a deep stable of backs as you said
Adjustments during the weather break were effective and great
Pruitt has a set when it comes down to fourth down attempts

The bad
We allowed 4.3 yards per carry against an inferior team
We gave up 3 points
We only have one more tune-up before Florida
We started slow
Need the o-line to start strong instead of slowly gaining speed each game
We need more pressure from the d-line

Their recruiting is off the charts right now as well. They will stomp a mud hole in us

Perhaps the ugly is that Kentucky is no longer a given win. But I think we will take care of them.

Good post and I agree OP. Another Ugly was the student section chunking those fans on the field. If a Player steps on one of those full stride, it would be real Ugly.
Fans were a luxury when I was a misguided youth. We would have fought for an extra fan. However, the toilets had real toilet paper in them and some rolls might be launched out!

You forgot to mention that Cade Mays looked like an All-Pro Saturday. Not sure he will give up that spot easily after seeing that performance. Wasn't he suppose to SUCK because he decommitted from us? Thanks Butch

As much as I would love to blame Butch for the Mays ordeal. That was 100% on the UT administration and the circus they called a coaching search.

Basilio said a couple of Tennessee scouts were watching the UGA/USCe game and were heard to have said that “Smart is down there building the Death Star”.

Welp... then we need to do this to the old Death Star.

It’s scary to think, but he is building a monster right now. It’s clemson 2.0 honestly. That’s why I think this recruiting cycle is so important for us, If we don’t start bridging that gap this year then we’re gonna have issues. We need a top 5 recruiting class this year to stay in step with Ga.

I was a little down on our current class because if we finish with it as is it will be ranked around 15th probably. That’s not enough to close the gap, but if we don’t win an SEC game this fall, and obviously miss a bowl, it will be a feat to sign one that high.

Yeah we definitely need to be a bowl team and show progress to sign some of those key upper echelon players we need to help our class. I’m holding out hope on Wright from WV. I think if we could snag him to go with Morris then that would be huge. Add in a big time LB prospect and I like where we’re at. I’m not sold bogle wants us yet, time will tell I guess. I’m anxious to see what happens as we get closer to our scholarship max allotment.

Well if we start winning again we will start getting their recruits as well

Winning cures it all that is for sure. People can say what they want, but smart at GA owes a lot of his success last year to Mark Richt. And that in turn has sky rocketed his recruiting success. Had Pruitt been setup like that by jones then we would be in a much better situation. I only say this to point out that Kirby and Jeremy’s situations are a lot different.

I hate to burst your bubble but we could very possibly be 3-9 at the end of this year and I would still feel the same about these coaches. I think they are among the best in college football. Its just what they have to work with right now. We will be fortunate not to have to go into the stands and get some fans to play by the end of the season with the schedule we have. We do not have the bodies that are equipped to stand the teeth of this schedule even with the puff cakes we are playing. We could have went 0-12 and I still would say we have all the right coaches. Be ready to give this 2-3 years OK
