Full disclosure: I did not attend this game. I DVRed it and watched it last evening.

The GOOD:
Almost everything!
A W vs a ranked opponent
A W vs an SEC opponent
No real injuries
An OL that looked like they had played the game before
A defense that stopped an outgunned KY offense
QB play was very good
The light at the end of the tunnel might not be a train … it might be daylight!
No questioning the coaching calls
The team is obviously better than last year and better than last week

The Bad:
I was disappointed with "clock management" at the end of the 1st half. I was wrong! It all worked out.
Still some nagging penalties
The kicking game was off center … maybe wind?

The ugly:
Not much
Seeing an official helped off the field
Fumbles
Pruitt had a cow over the late lateral after interception

The real ugly truth is that KY is still just KY. I suspect they were over-rated and had started to believe the news clippings. It may be an important lesson for the VOLS going forward.

That was one of the most positive things I saw in this game. How is it part of the ugly?

OBB, just one point of disagreement:

This team we beat yesterday, it's not "just Kentucky." Just-Kentucky doesn't beat Florida, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Mizzou, and Vandy, and take A&M to overtime. This team we beat, it's significantly better than a typical Kentucky squad.

Okay, not the #11 team in the nation. They were definitely over-rated. But, as LittleCat said yesterday, probably realistically somewhere at the fringe of the Top 25.

That's not your typical KY team. We beat more than Just-Kentucky yesterday. We beat Best-Kentucky, at least, the best KY squad since Tim Couch roamed their sideline. Maybe even better than that; maybe the best Wildcats since the mid-1970s.

Other than that, I really appreciated your assessment. Thanks for it.

Go Vols!

That is not disagreement. It is clarification.

Kentucky was better at the beginning of season and seemed to be a team loaded with improved players... the season has wore them down to their TRUE ABILITY and REGULAR/EXPECTED PERFORMANCE!
Kentucky will never be ELITE!!!

The lateral was definitely a bonehead move, the interception sealed the win, all he had to done as go down... tossing it back the ball actually fumbled. Was funny to see one of our players tackle another to end the play though.

With that being said, I do like that our players are finally trying to make plays and make things happen. Everyone was playing with purpose and trying to put on more steam. Quite refreshing.

Guarantano made 2 or 3 ill-advised throws that could have been intercepted. But they weren't. They will work with him on that.

UK has beaten S. Carolina 5 straight, 4 out of 5 over Vandy, and 4 in a row over Mizzou.

UK beating Florida at Florida earlier this season was impressive.

The good is JG - currently he is 4th in the SEC in just about every meaningful QB stat category behind only Tua, Fromm, and the Ole Miss QB. His TDs could be a little higher but his 2 INTs is a league low tied with Tua which offset the low TD numbers in my opinion. Also, his yards per catch is over 8 and again, leads 10 other starting QBs in the SEC. The critics of JG are starting to sound ridiculous IMO

Exactly. You give JG more time like yesterday or improve next year, and he’s going to be lethal. He’s so dang precise, that he’s going to be a huge help in covering other deficiencies next year as we continue to upgrade our talent levels. We really need some help in the trenches. I see we look pretty good on incoming OL, but think could really use a DL stud or two more. Also think WR talent is going to start noticing our Vols!

Kentucky just got off a deflating emotional whipping last week (a game with alot on the line).
It's late in the season and they're not as deep as your typical #11

It was a game ripe for the taking for a team that wanted it. Tennessee did!

If what you say about the teams Ky has beatenis true, then those teams must not be very good at all. I have watch all of them play. Vandy rises up and plays pretty good sometimes, a fairly average team; Mo. the same as Vandy; S.C. just a little better most of the time than is Vandy; the rest of the teams referenced that Ky has beaten are pretty good teams all the time.

Great summary.

We aren't as good as the team that beat UF. We aren't as bad as the team that lost to UT. It's a very bipolar team. A great defense, a terrible offense. I truly don't know how to understand this team. It's definitely not a fluke of a team, but it's not a #11 team in the nation.

Your great defense is wearing down I’m afraid. 2 games in a row with more than 20 points surrendered

There was complete clock mismanagement at the end of 1st half. Pruitt admitted he wasnt going for a score. We just had that big run that setup the opportunity for it.

That's really my only complaint about CJP's game day decisions. He is too conservative at the end if the first half. Stealing a score, even 3pts, there is a big momentum builder

Yeah I don't really like the "Kentucky is just Kentucky" bull****. Same people that say that somehow think that Tennessee is still Tennessee. We arent. Or rather, we haven't been. And neither had Kentucky.

Things change. We have to constantly take inventory. And the latest stock assessment tells us.....

That was one hell of a win yesterday. Enjoy it. If you can't....just compare UK vs Florida and UT vs Florida from earlier this very same year.

That should straighten anyone out....as long as they truly try to wrap their head around the current state of these 3 programs.

Pruitt had every reason to be pissed about the lateral IMO.

Absolutely. A turnover wouldn't have been catastrophic at that point in the game, but reckless, boneheaded mistakes can't be made at critical times. Best to get that silliness out of the kid's system by screaming in his earhole. He'll remember next time. I guarantee it.

I know there were a ton of recruits at the game, any of them potential DL?

Pruitt being pissed off at lateral attempt needs to go under "good"... a bad mental mistake that needs correction... Go Vols!!

That was not even one of the better Kentucky teams I've ever seen. Their offense was Snell right, Snell left, toss to Snell. The receivers had hands of stone and the placekicker was nothing more than high school quality. I can't imagine how UK ever got ranked so high or how fortune shined upon them in order to go 7-1. That is not a good team in any way shape or form.

It is my hope that Kentucky was not overrated
