The good, the bad, and the ugly -- S Carolina edition

Anyone thinking more than 6 wins next year needs to rethink
You lose your stating dline plus some other key players
Freshman starting on oline
Not a great combination for success next year
You may want instant success but open your eyes and look
This team has gotten better as the year has went on

Dline can't get worse. 11 return on offense. Return secondary and LB's. Easier schedule. Bowl game would be a big help in developing these guys. But team should be bigger, stronger, and improved next year. Dunno if it will result in many more W's because it may not be enough improvement, but they should be better nevertheless

I believe the team will be bigger stronger and better
Just don’t believe it will result in more wins at this point you will have freshman starting and their strength won’t be up to sec standards for at least a year or 2
I hope we go 8-4 but don’t see but 6-6 at this point need a lot more pieces to this puzzle

If Trey makes it back and Kennedy can get healthy the interior of our line should be respectable to good. Tackles will likely struggle. Dline is gonna be pretty bad. Good chance we have a good O next year. Offensive Skill players should be stout. Need to get back to redshirting lineman. Pruitt should probably have 2 classes of lineman like he is doing this year.

Dline and linebacker will be an issue next year for sure
Maybe some that got moved to Oline will be back and better than expected
My hopes for this we do need linebackers immediately

More than likely we will start freshman on the oline next year also
Right now it’s wait and see though

….And how you can say that some expect a 10 win season when we are 3-5 is simply lashing out in defense of a coach you apparently worship. And I don't think that beating a 3-3 SC was unrealistic and if you do then my guess says you look to lose the rest of the games other than Charlotte.
Obviously reading comprehension is above your grade level. There is a difference in "expected" as I suggested and "expect" as you failed to comprehend. I am disappointed but before the season I expected 7 wins with 8 as a stretch. Today, 6 seems a real stretch.

Kentucky is going to ram the ball down the Vols collective throats and they held a potent Missouri offense with a future NFL quarterback under 20 yesterday.

Anyone thinking that game is a sure win isnt watching much football.

Kentucky's defense is solid...but I'm going to say that Missouri's current offensive coordinator also played a role in their lack of production.

I don’t have to find any article when I saw it with my own eyes. Todd KELLY missed tackles and his angles were obviously off through out the game.

I’m glad the kid is physically healthy and I hope he has overcome his mental health issues, as well. This game was too much for him, I think improvements will be shown in the next upcoming games. Coming off an injury and a re-injury is tough!!!

BLASPHEMY! That son of a legend popularized orange pants and dogs on trailers. He led our fine Volunteers in shower hygiene. How dare you?

I dont like Dooley either and think he's made a career from his last name.

But they did put 35 on SC, 29 on GA, and 40 on the Purdue team that beat Ohio ST. Only other team that shut them down like KY was Alabama.

The good:
I thought the players were physical and intense
Avoided a slow start
OL/DL line continued to improve
LBs looked like LBs
IF (IF...) UK can beat UGa the game in Knoxville will mean nothing to their chances to get to Atlanta

The BAD:
More critical penalties
Inability to lock up a win
OL/DL need much more improvement

The UGLY/very UGLY:
Blaming Pruitt with failing to meet unrealistic expectations. It is not his fault that some of you expected a 10 win season.
UNCC opening line might be "Pick 'em"

GO BIG ORANGE!
Don't expect 10 wins anytime under pruit t

These facts don't fit my agenda, so I'm going to call it fake news!!!

I would add tackling to the bad. I can't believe our defensive loaded staff doesn't have the team tackling better.

You can't tackle what you can't catch. And you can't catch it if you're too slow in play recognition and a step late getting into position to catch it.

OP just didn't see the same game that I did.....while OL did do a better of job in our running game...DL got knocked off the LOS--and LB play was non-existent--ALL OF 'em....Safeties played just as bad as LBs.....

JG truly played well enough to get the win for us--but he's average on his best day--and it goes down hill from there. Being tough isn't the only prerequisite for playing QB...

Hopefully Peterson can be a difference maker. Bituli is good. Have a long ways to go. Seems the O is closer to "good" than the D though. Need JG to make a leap there for it to be good enough to make a difference in the W/L column

The Vols have the worst linebackers in the SEC. Against SCarolina, they were non existent. This group is small and they make up for it by being slow. They take poor angles and always guess the wrong hole to fill. Watch The long run on SCarolina's last drive that put the game away. Kirkland stepped up in the hole and stopped and stood flat flooted as the Scarolina RB cut to the outside and ran away from him. In the second half, Carolina just lined up and ran it right at the Vols defense and the LBs were no where to be found.

At the 6:19 mark is how you attack and tackle a ball carrier.....
