The good side of Butch Jones

Butch Jones tweeted out a nice condolence to the family of John Ward.

One thing I always liked about Jones, he was never shy about letting people know he was a man of faith.

He often wore a Bible verse on his wrist. I was proud of him for loving the Lord and being open about it.

I would rather have a man of real faith and not someone who makes a show of his faith. I have known plenty of the earlier who never once considered wearing verses on their wrist. Instead they applied and lived them.

Not saying Butch doesn't have true faith. Just saying anytime I see somebody wearing those AND making sure everyone knows they are wearing them? They are usually just making a show and end up not having a real faith.

Not disagreeing with your sentiment, but what legit examples do you have of “making sure everyone” knew he was wearing them? Never seen him waving them around like Madonna in a 80’s video. Freeze would “wear his” faith in every Tweet, interview what have you.

Actually, a guy like Freeze would be the more obvious example of what I was talking about. In Butch's case, I keep thinking about the Helm rumor. That account might be exaggerated, but if it is only partially true, it's hard to view Jones as an example of a faithful man. I found that more out of line than what Freeze did. Of course, that might have alot to do with me being a Tennessee fan and not an Ole Miss fan. Nobody's perfect.

Allegedly making a player write “I am a p****” vs having hookers on speed dial on the same phone you Tweet scripture? Maybe your disgruntlement and disappointment in your team’s football fortunes have colored your moral slant. :dunno:
