Getting ready to make my reservations for the annual April golf siesta to Myrtle Beach. I am in the process of picking our courses, I have played 46 different courses there and have about 15-18 more on my want to play list, at present I'm giving 6 consideration for the 3rd and final course this trip.



If anyone has played any of these courses any info on them ( by all means play or stay away from for example ) would certainly be appreciated.

1- The Wizard
2- Oyster Bay
3- The Founders Club
4- The Parklands course at the Legends
5- Farmstead
6- Prestwick CC

I wouldn't mind playing any of those courses. I play in the World Amateur out there every August, and I've played many courses there, but haven't played any on this list. I've heard good things about all of them and would love to play them, though. Glen Dornoch is my favorite in MB, though.

Skip the Wizard, go to the Witch instead. On a buddies trip to Myrtle two years ago, we played the Witch (awesome), Glen Dornoch (borderline awesome), the Wizard (good, but not great), and Possum Trot (skip it - it's like Pine Lakes - well-trod muni.) Now, I'm not a well-travelled man of wealth and taste like BigPapa, so don't expect Pebble Beach or anything, but seriously, do NOT pass up the Witch. And bring your A game. You'll need it.

I love Glen Dornoch myself, it's not my favorite but it's in the top 10. All of the Glens courses are top notch.

I've played the Witch 3 times and I love it but it's not near as demanding as the majority of courses I've played so far in MB.

905R green aldila 65 gram (green shaft)

kzg 3 wood (garbage)

Nickent 20 deg hybrid (stiff shaft, model before 4dx)

Ping s59 4-w w/project x 7.0 rifle shafts

56 vokey

60 cleveland cg10

putter: odyssey white hot center shafted, can't remember the model, but it's anser looking

best part: only paid for driver and hybrid, i have 150 bucks in the whole set, the rest were given to me from people at the golf course i work at :]

looking at my list in typed form makes me realize how old my set is.

One day soon I will have a good paying job and lots of stuff will be upgraded.

Also, I played today. Struggled early with irons if I was trying to be easy because I was bringing my body around late, but cleared it up and still scored all right. Didn't have my custom blow up hole and that made my score more respectable than it should have been. We were also playing heavy winter rules because the fairways were so soggy.

All that matters is if you can hit them or not. I'm about 3 generations behind on my irons, but I haven't seen anything yet that I can hit any better.

I will say though that I went about 5 years with my old Driver before switching last Summer and the difference in the technology was shocking.

Hated the tour burner I ordered, even after hitting it quite a bit prior. Back to the old trusted 510 pretty quickly.

You weight that 2 ball at all? Those dudes are light.

Oh I agree. I still love my irons, but would love to upgrade my woods, and probably give in and toss the Adams for a hybrid, something I can hit in more places. I played the 975D and 983K until two springs ago and can't believe the difference in my now two year old 905T

I like the pop off the burner, just didn't trust it with all that pop and takeoff. Until I can hit something more consistently, I'll live without the tech. My irons are ratty old blades with updaed shafts. PW has been replaced twice.

I'm exactly opposite. I have no feel with light putters and good speed with heavy putters.

I used a heavy Ping Anser until I got to college. I went from playing south GA bermuda to almost exclusively playing bentgrass mountain greens and it drove me insane.

I started on Bermuda and now play all bent, but still suck with light putters. It's probably mental, which is easily the weak link in my game.

I do like to let the putter swing itself as much as possible, so that might be part of it.

I'm probably a bad example. My putter is like a car nobody else can start. I've got it cut down to around 33 inches and slapped a monster grip on it to ward off the yips.

Mine's vanilla 34 with a midsize grip. It's a hair upright, but other than that, it's plain Jane.

Driver - Taylor Made Burner

hybrid - Taylor Made Rescue wedge 19 degree....awesome
3-PW - ping eye 2 (prob 20 years old...guess they are good)
56 Degree wedge (snake eyes, think it's a golfsmith special)
Putter - Zevo (again, think it's a golfsmith special)

This is my first set of clubs, going to bang them around for a season or two then upgrade, cause I have a feeling the desire to play is going to stick around.
