The georgia game is the worst spot of the year for us

It can go either way. Hopefully, the Vols remember than Georgia went ahead of us last year in Neyland 24-3 with their best player (Chubb) on the bench.
Chubb has not been Chubb since UNC... and is now a little gimpy. UT needs to make penetration by the DL a main focus (continued next comment)

1) This year, they have a far better quarterback in Eason. He is a definite NFL starter some day.
Eason is a statue.... which is why everyone since UNC has been able to get DL penetration without fearing the QB run. He needs great, not good, protection in order to have success.

As for the NFL, it is evolving. More and more QB's need mobility to succeed.
2) They have home field advantage with a p/o'ed home crowd.
They're po'd at their own team. If UT can take control early... it is a non-factor.
3) Huge new interest in the program with Richt gone after 15+ years.
UGA has great fan loyalty. I can't remember a time they didn't sell out for the UT game. This is another of those marginal issues that really don't matter all that much.
4) Per VN, they have the best OL Coach in the country in Sam Pittman.
Pittman is a very good OL coach. That doesn't make his players world beaters..... or change the fact that he's trying to protect an immobile QB.
5) Jim Chaney scores a ton of points everywhere he goes.
I like Chaney also. Maybe this is the week it clicks at UGA. But they scored less vs 3 of their 4 opponents than those opponents avg allowing.... with the exception being MU who has played a couple of chumps. Incarnate Word (which I'd never heard of) and So Alabama BOTH scored more against Nicholls than UGA. Obviously Ole Miss couldn't stop Bama or FSU... Wofford had one less point and 3 MORE rush yds vs Ole Miss than UGA. That's a little more interesting since Wofford actually scored while it was still "a game" on a 70 yd drive.
6) The Georgia high school system is rich in talent and they have recruited well.
Yet here they are with a team that isn't playing well and has some very thin spots on both sides of the ball when it comes to talent.
7) Kirby Smartt is the defensive brains who made Saban look good for years.
:lolabove: I guess that's why Bama has just fallen apart while being coached with UGA's former DC? They're 2nd in both scoring and total D so far in the SEC.
8) # 16 is 'The Human Joystick' and Verne loves him. As does Chaney.
He's a dangerous guy once you get him the ball. But I'd take Kamara every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
9) They went on the road with a true freshman quarterback and won against a tough Missouri squad.
Really? A "tough" Missouri squad? Not sure if this isn't more ridiculous than using "Verne loves him" as a point.

I just hope we can stay close enough to squeeze out a victory at the end on an Aaron Medley field goal.
:eek:k: Here's to hoping you were being facetious about all of this....

Interesting thing about Eason. He seemed to struggle most when Ole Miss gave him time to think about it.

With that quirk noted, best to just clobber him every play.

I wouldn't blitz him much but the DL can stunt pretty much without worrying about him taking off.

A&M and alabama---the only 2 games to worry about on the schedule. UT should split those 2, go 11-1, and matchup with alabama again in the SEC title game.

You make valid points. If both teams play their A game, the Vols win. Just trying to point out that UGA is a SEC team with much pride and tradition. We can't just show up and except them to roll over.

Eason had one good ten yard run.

That's true to the same extent it could have been said about UT during the Dooley years. Smart may be all the Dawgs dream.... but there are early signs of a lack of discipline and organization.

Eason had one good ten yard run.
I believe that was a designed run.

He lacks the quickness to run away from a good rush or start from stop and burn a D that doesn't spy him. UF spied Dobbs pretty much all game with #40. Ole Miss was able to double cover UGA receivers because they weren't worried about Eason taking off and doing damage. Mizzou didn't either.
