The georgia game is the worst spot of the year for us

I just wish Tennessee could swap November with late September to early October... Coming from the Big Ten where most of the major games are played at the tail end, this always flummoxed me that their major rivals are played in the first few weeks of the conference season than the last.

It can go either way. Hopefully, the Vols remember than Georgia went ahead of us last year in Neyland 24-3 with their best player (Chubb) on the bench.

1) This year, they have a far better quarterback in Eason. He is a definite NFL starter some day.
2) They have home field advantage with a p/o'ed home crowd.
3) Huge new interest in the program with Richt gone after 15+ years.
4) Per VN, they have the best OL Coach in the country in Sam Pittman.
5) Jim Chaney scores a ton of points everywhere he goes.
6) The Georgia high school system is rich in talent and they have recruited well.
7) Kirby Smartt is the defensive brains who made Saban look good for years.
8) # 16 is 'The Human Joystick' and Verne loves him. As does Chaney.
9) They went on the road with a true freshman quarterback and won against a tough Missouri squad.

I just hope we can stay close enough to squeeze out a victory at the end on an Aaron Medley field goal.

This one IMO is worse, you're post above is everything OP's was with the addition of bed wetting. Seriously did you play competitive sports in your youth? Did you always make supermen out of your opponents before taking the field if you did? How did that work out for you? It could be just me, but man you're coming across like a whooped puppy.

I disagree. I think we are skyhigh right now and there's no way were going to come out with a let down.

GBO!!!

He can sling it but hes inaccurate and his WR drop a lot of balls that most would consider easy catches
2) They have home field advantage with a p/o'ed home crowd.

This is the biggest factor to me and will be a preview of what to expect the next week in college station

3) Huge new interest in the program with Richt gone after 15+ years.

Most fans are disgruntled after the slow start to the season. One of their boards was in full meltdown after the game.

4) Per VN, they have the best OL Coach in the country in Sam Pittman. If hes the best out there he needs to be fired. Hes not keeping his end of the deal. They aren't opening holes consistently and already lack in Pass protection.

5) Jim Chaney scores a ton of points everywhere he goes.

Jim Chaney is a guy who can score in bunches but hes got to have a qb and WR that can throw and catch he doesent have that yet.

6) The Georgia high school system is rich in talent and they have recruited well.

This is very true they are killing it right now

7) Kirby Smartt is the defensive brains who made Saban look good for years.

I really think a lot of that had to do with Saban. He kept smart under the same umbrella as Kiffin is he just wasn't publically reprimanded for it.

8) # 16 is 'The Human Joystick' and Verne loves him. As does Chaney.

In the return game I expect Tennessee to kick it away from McKenzie. The passing game is what it is. Chaney relies heavily and often times to much so on Mckenzie when they need a spark.

9) They went on the road with a true freshman quarterback and won against a tough Missouri squad.

That's true they hung tuff and won it late but Missouri had a number of chances to put it out of reach and failed to do so. Tennessee wont let that happen.

I just hope we can stay close enough to squeeze out a victory at the end on an Aaron Medley field goal.

You're straining very hard to build a case for Georgia and it's a little ridiculous but point by point, if you want:

1) He may be a great QB in the future (remains to be seen) but so far this season he is 64/123 52% with 5 TD's and 3 INT's through 4 games.

2) So what? Their crowd is po'ed at them for having another disappointing start to the season. Same song, next verse. Years Tennessee has won in Sanford Stadium since SEC divisional play began in 1992: 1992,1994,1996,1998, 2004, 2006. That is not a hostile environment. They only beat us there when we are bad.

3) The honeymoon just ended with the Ole Miss game... That new car smell is now a fart... You found out that hot cheerleader stuffs... etc.

4) Per VN, Florida had a great defense and we wouldn't be able to score over 30 points or be able to throw the ball with Dobbs. Pittman may do a good job with them in the future but right now he has a below average offensive line that really struggled even vs Nicholls St.

5) Tennessee did not score a ton of points in 2011 under Jim Chaney. In fact, we scored 7 points or less 5 times that year.

6) That is really not a factor in this Saturday's match up. And how would you explain why it's been 11 years since Georgia won the SEC and why it's been 36 years since they won the National Championship? Since 1983, Georgia has won 2 SEC Championships and 0 National Championships and they have only played in the SECCG 5 times. Those are the same number of SEC titles and SEC East titles as Tennessee, fwiw.

7) Sure, he was! Seriously, did you type that with a straight face? Fwiw, Kirby Smart was not on Saban's staff at LSU in 2003 when they won the National Championship.

8) Verne loves cheeseburgers... and so does Chaney!

9) Missouri a tough squad? They lost to West Virginia 26-11. Odom is running up the score vs mismatched out of conference opponents which proves nothing but his lack of class.

I just hope we don't have any more injuries. This will be a route. :hi:

im just being a realist. I hope we win by 40... but fact of the matter is saturday was a crazy emotional win, and georgia is comming off s tough loss. This is our first real road game in a hostile environment. The whole setup screams letdown. Im not saying that will happen, but it does happen every week in college football. The better team dont always smash the other team. Emotions and the spot are big factors. Vegas knows this, they make millions off people thinking "oh this team just won a huge game im going to load up on them" all while not realizing they could be in for a huge letdown. I hope that dont happen, but it very well could. #GBO

That is not a hostile environment at all. Except for the Dooley year's, we have always played well there including two years ago when they really were a much better team.

I know that a lot of people would like to see Shy get his shot but this team is bigger than that. I fully expect Tennessee to roll Georgia. No reason for me to think otherwise they are just to inconsistent at every position.

I wasn't implying that UT or Tuttle would cheap-shot Kublanow in retaliation. But I absolutely believe he will be a marked man on every play for aggressive, physical play by our d-line. He won't get a play to rest all day.

After just playing against one of the best secondaries we will face all season, we will now play one of the worst. They are slow in the defensive backfield. Malone, Byrd and Jennings will have plenty of opportunities for big plays.

Not trying to be negative, but this is a horrible spot for our team. We are comming off a huge emotional win and have to travel to athens where uga is comming off of an embarassing loss. Very tough spot for our vols, i hope the celebrating is over and they are not to relaxed like the season goal was to beat florida

Easy to see that angle, but it seems to me that our Vols almost always play well against the Dawgs. UGA will be smarting after that beat down... but GBO

I honestly think uga will come out emotional to start, but after a quarter they'll settle down, and we'll settle in. Kinda like the VT game, but better offense on our side.

This game does make me super nervous. First true road game in a hostil environment, with a wounded Ga team. Living in the middle of all these damn dawgs, I just pray Tennessee curb stomps them.

In order to establish a new pecking order in the SECe we need to not just survive the UGA game, but we need to roll them in their own building. Once we do this Tennessee will be the assumed leader of the SECe going forward, not just in the minds of the media but also in the minds of the other football programs.

This is what they keep posting on their boards. I hope we dominate them.

I admit, I am very nervous about going to College Station... and then there is Alabama at home which I expect to lose. However, I am not nervous about this week at all. Georgia sucks.

Beating Florida only set you up for the opportunity to win a bigger game.....uga.

This is a huge game for the Vols and I expect to see the full Shoop blitz playbook for mr Eason this week. Shoop has had to guess what VaTech was really gonna do with Evans and same for Florida with Appleby. Hes got 3 full games on uga with Eason. Plus, we know Eason cant run to the bathroom when he has the squirts......Time for Vereen, Kingbo, Vickers & Co to get some sacks with Barnett.

I would place a greater chance of losing to TAMU than to Bama. The Bama game will be off the hook.

If we beat Georgia and only have one loss it will be the biggest game of the year in college football and it will be at our place.

Interesting thing about Eason. He seemed to struggle most when Ole Miss gave him time to think about it.

With that quirk noted, best to just clobber him every play.
