The Gators are STILL UPSET!!

The UT team is very good, but the observation that you are undersized in the front court and very dependent on three pointers is accurate.

No, it isn't. Tyler Smith made Speights look sluggish on the inside (especially in the second half). As undersized as you say we are, we've been killing teams on the boards since Duke Crews's resurrection.

I appreciate the kind words, but while the grass over there may be greener, the Italian marble over here, with filet mignon and fine bourbon, served by beautiful topless 25 year old French women who speak no English, is just fine with me.

Its good to be the king. Even if only for another 6 weeks.

Everyone seems to be forgetting that the reason the game was so close until the end is that FL was hitting everything the first half! If FL starts out cold instead of red hot, this game would have been a laugher!

here some of the things I have been reading over on the other side!!...Hilarious!!

No final 4...A team like OSU would have beat UT in a neutral court. YEsterdays first half stands testimony to that. We had one big in Speights and he killed them. UT wins by slapping away at the ball and creating turnovers and hitting 3s. If any of that is not working on a particular night they are out....Did you see how easily we broke their press yesterday for a young team. Their press did not bother us.

simply we wore them out in the 2nd half, we broke them! florida get over it.

Yeah UF did shoot 65% during the first half... and higher than UT for the game...If UF shoots like that they will beat some good teams...We just kept the peddle down for the enitre 2nd half and their youth showed as we tore away... I agree if they hadnt shot 65% it would have been nasty..

Good post. I can tell you put a lot of thought into it. Go eat your Captain Crunch. Don't forget to take your nap.
Looks like someone got up on the wrong side of the 22 point butt whipping.:)

first post here and i didnt bother to read the entire thread so take i apologize if someone has already mentioned this but...

I think UT is a very good and as long as everything is clicking they are certainly a final 4 team and a favorite (IMO) to win it all. with that said, yall remind me a little of the gator teams before the back to back title teams (with walsh, roberson, etc) in that you kind of live and die by the 3. now, in the games ive watched of UT, you guys have been unconscious from the outside and it allowed you to blow teams out. thing is, enevitably in the tourney, you are going to have one of those games where your outside shots just wont fall and you'll need to be able to get the bulk of your points from the inside to win. seems like you have capable inside guys but are they going to be dependable when nothing is working from outside?

and thats why UF made quick exits from the tourney2001-2005. we didnt have more than 1 capable big guy inside to cause problems and our outside shot just wouldnt fall (even though we were a very good outside shooting team). with the 04s, we had to guys inside and last year we had 3 with richard so that even when shots werent falling from the outside, we could still kill teams inside. IMO, thats whats missing from this years florida squad, 2 quality big men. therefore when our shots arent falling, we get run out of the building. man do i wish we picked up patrick patterson....

stepete, as a fellow Gator fan, I am not allowed to officially welcome you to the Volnation site. But unofficially, howdy. This is a good place. You will enjoy it. Got to be thick skinned at times, and occassionally self-censor to keep the topic on track, but overall its a go with the flow kinda deal.

As to the substance of your post, I've been telling them this exact same thing for months. The Vols fans by and large acknowledge that they are very dependent on three's and also that it could be a problem in the tournament if they have a bad night from the perimiter. But they do bristle at any comparison (even though its totally valid, IMO) to earlier Gator teams that made an early exit based on a bad shooting night.

A post presence wouldn't hurt. Brian Williams will have to do this year. UT's loss to Kentucky is a perfect example of what you guys are talking about.

The flip side of the argument is this. If they get hot during the NCAA tourney they are going to be hard to stop. Welcome to the board...btw.

If UT is hot from the outside and can lay 85-100 points on people, press them and wear them down, then they can beat anyone.

If anyone in the country is cold outside, they are not going to win in tourny. It's a huge part of the game today.

The problem with the Walsh, Roberson team was the players. They were not a very good TEAM. LG you have to know this, it was in the paper here in J-ville. If it got into the Times Union, which is the worst rag on the planet, it has to be true.:p

Whatever dude. Why don't you take you crap to a gator board. I wouldn't think many here care what you think. I surely do not.
