Dude, you can say that Tennessee hasn't done well on the field over the past several years, but not because it hasn't recruited well over that period. If you are going to troll other sites, you better get your facts straight.

2010 coaches all-sec team

janzen jackson (2nd team)

2009 coaches all-sec team

chris scott (2nd team)
eric berry (1st team)
dan williams (2nd team)
rico mccoy (2nd team)

2008 coaches all sec team

anthony parker (2nd team)
robert ayers (1st team)
eric berry (1st team)
rico mccoy (2nd team)

tennessee has had two players make 1st team all sec in the last 3 seasons. talent has been a problem which is why the results on the field have been a problem.

i don't see how this can even be disputed. with regard to attrition, name one player that had to leave tennessee or chose to leave tennessee that went on to do anything noteworthy in the last few years.

So you think Crompton was "as good as anyone"? He was only serviceable after the staff cut his reads down to two routes. He did a pretty good job once he didn't have to think, but the post I quoted said "our starters were as good as anyone's". That's hardly the case. Would you take Crompton over Tebow, Mallett, Garcia, or Snead?

Not taking up for Crompton but put Tebow,Mallett,Garcia,or Sneed in as many offensive schemes and cordinators as Crompton and lets see were they are at.

You're right. There is definitely some merit to that argument. Crompton has the physical skills to match all but Tebow on that list, the mental fortitude is a question mark as far as I'm concerned. Guess we'll never know.

Troll other sites?? i hate when people say that crap. "Troll" away 99gator....there has been SOME truth in all of your views or opinions. The fact is...UT's program has been lacking. When it started, it was not just because of coaching. UT has had many boosters donate A LOT of money for new facilities, stadium improvements, and equipment purchases. We fell behind not only in the coaching aspect of the game, but in the recruiting aspect as well. Our recruiting classes as a whole, have been ranked well. That does not mean we were getting the type of commitments, that build and/or compete for National Championships. Recruiting top tier talent, takes not only top tier coaches, but the facilities, the equiment and the venues to train, house and display that talent. UT fell behind in all of those area's, and has been working dilegently to rectifiy those areas of need. Its a constant battle to keep these area's updated and above the other programs in the SEC. Just like everything else, the science's and technology are always evolving, and with it, are the athletes themselves. UT is back on the climb, and thats all any sports fan from the SEC needs to worry about.

Tennessee has had some highly touted recruting classes over the past five years and its share of first-rounders. The problem has been developing that talent (or keeping it eligible) across the board. Florida has some of those disciplinary problems, but one difference is that even murder threats aren't enough to get players kicked out of UF.

Here are the rivals rankings of Tennessee's past six classes:

2005: 4
2006: 23
2007: 3
2008: 35
2009: 10
2010: 9
2011: 12

At least a few of these classes ranked above Florida's class.

First round draft picks for Tennessee:

2006: 1 (J Allen)
2007: 2 (J Harrell, R Meachem)
2008: 1 (J Mayo-DROY)
2009: 1 (R Ayers)
2010: 2 (E Berry, D Williams)

Two Tennessee players from these years were named all-pro in the NFL this season (Mayo and A Foster, who was undrafted). Also included was J Witten for a total of three. Only Miami has as many players represented.
