i don't know how the SEC will be able to continue to have members play for the national title.

paying attention to signing day.....

auburn, georgia, florida, alabama, lsu, arkansas, south carolina, tennessee.....

they're all getting players.

2 years ago, you wouldn't have included auburn, south carolina, arkansas or tennessee in that mix.

the league is just going to be (as if it wasn't already) just an unbelievably brutal meat grinder.

It's been this way for the past 10 years, and every year one team is able to stay a cut above, and on year's they don't the teams with a loss (or 2) still get credit for winning the SEC and go to the title game.

2 years ago Kiffin pulled in a top 10 class for Tennessee. Dooley pulled one last year, and it looks like he will again this year. 2008 really was the only year since early 1990's that TENNESSEE hasn't had a top 20 class. Need to do some research before you put UT in that group... GO VOLS!!!

And someone must be having some buyer's remorse on Weis, and the empty set offense.

Although I will agree with you Gator that more and more SEC schools are pulling in elite talent. Makes for some damn good football Saturdays... I for one look forward to some more parity within the league...

i'm sorry. it has just seemed like many people have claimed there has been a talent problem at tennessee.

apparently, that wasn't true.

Pfft did you see our roster this year?

i was being sarcastic (as i am guessing you know).

there isn't anyone anywhere who would be fooled by anyone who would claim that tennessee has brought in anywhere near the talent they are accustomed to or the talent they brought in today in the last several years......rankings be damned

fsu was going to come back. everyone knew that. just a matter of time after getting rid of the man who was napping on the job.

in the future, should florida make the sec title game again.....they will be confronted with a top 10 fsu vs. a top 10 sec championship opponent in back to back weeks.

a lot of fun.

I've missed you on GVX, 99gator. Happy to find you here. Best of luck to the Gators and their new staff...except when they play the Vols.

I know what you mean Gator. We might have brought in a top 10 ranking class in Kiffin's first year, but how many of them are still here? We are down Brown, Oku, Myles Jr, Nuke, Green and so on.

What hurt us was our 2007 class falling apart once they got to campus and our 2008 class being weak as water.

09 and 10 were pretty solid.

The attrition from coaching changes and the 2008 class being very important at the time, as they were juniors, did leave a talent drop off. We have talent now, they were just green with no quality depth for the most part.

Final recruiting rankings have not been the problem, except in 08.

Talent in the trenches and at QB....those three most important "positions" in the SEC...have been sorely lacking at UT.

Quarterback I can agree on.

But our lines have been alright, we just literally have no depth. We had to move a DE to DT this year. Our o-line is solid, just young, and they have no backups.

It's transfers and lawbreakers that have been the problem, not the rankings on NSD.

2009 was solid - until we lost
6.1 Bryce Brown
6.0 Nu'keese Richardson
5.9 David Oku
5.9 James Green
5.9 Darren Myles Jr
5.7 Mike Edwards
If Rivals ranked that class today, it wouldn't look so hot.

I'm really happy with our 2010 and 2011 classes (even after a few whiffs today). We've got a solid foundation for the future.

All the more reason that our champ (barring upset in title game) will get a shot at the nat'l title.
