The future of Smoky Grey uniforms

Under Armour is far and away the better product. But Nike is flashy and puts more money into design, and that's all that matters to many.

Problem with Nike is they wanted to brand "Tennessee" and drop "Lady Vols". AD went along with it. Since when does a vendor mess with stuff like that? And what sort of Duma$$ AD will agree to that? Too much power. Just throw on some jerseys and cleats and play the game.

I agree 110%, the Nike stuff to me looks cheap. the Adidas uniforms looked much better. As far as fan gear goes, the Adidas was a far superior product than what Nike offers. Adidas also fit better and felt better.

Yeah those tire tread unis looked good on you....

Uniform threads are some of my favorites on VN.

Whats your feeling on "smoke grey" vs the gruden 44th? I mean, its not really a competition between the smoke grey uniforms and the gruden 43rd thread, but I feel this one is close to the 44th gruden thread

I love the grey uniforms. So many of my friends always compliment us when our boys wear them. That's about the only thing that I want to keep around that reminds me of Butch.

I can live with whatever the Vols put on and take the field in as long as they are victorious. My reference for an alt uniform however would be the reverse storm trooper in all black with orange trim, no white.

I love the British spelling of "grey." Is that official, or just the Volnation levels of refinement and erudition peaking out despite our best efforts to bury them?

Not only is it here to stay but I hope we expand it. I think for certain road games I'd like to see the Smoky Gray helmets with White Jersey and Smoky Gray pants.

Tradition is great but almost every team now days has multiple color combinations and alternate uniforms. Would love to see us add a Chrome Orange helmet for away games!

Witch Doctor say if we can beat Bama and win the East. Witch Doctor dont care if they wear go-go boots and orange tutu's. But yes, lets keep the Grey's, as that color is traditional.

I'm in the Orange and White camp. My son (18 years old and high school senior) and all his budddies love the grey unis. That being said , maybe keep the grey :puke5:

We better not wear the gray pants on the road before we wear the orange more.

"The players and recruits like them".

I've heard that Pruitt coaching Bama in the playoffs will be an excellent recruiting tool. Maybe they'll want to wear crimson.

No, it's not up to the players. Anybody going joining an organization that wears uniforms wears the uniform - not what he/she decides. That is the way it is and always has been whether it's military, UPS, or a sports team.

And Smokey Grey is part of our uniform. So they can wear it and like it right?

Check it out: University of Tennessee Volunteers Football Uniform and Team History | Heritage Uniforms and Jerseys

black jerseys in 1903. we only won 4 games that year too, but we only played nine game and only had a total of 14 players on the entire team, thanks coach butch jones!

Would love to see us in the 1938 khaki and orange with the orange helmets.

It is a tad boring after all the coaching hoopla has died down. Keep the gray uni and add an all black with heavy orange accent. Black helmet with orange mask to finish the look.

Pruitt's coming from a bama background. They are traditionalist in nature. My guess is that we go back to a pure traditional look for both home and away unis going forward

The last thing we need is a second alternate uniform.

Loose the orange and white, NEVER!
But there's nothing wrong with adding a little color variations, gray or black as accents on the jerseys/pants.

Particularly, the numbers could use some darker boarders strikes around them to better read the numbers.

Maybe a little grey on the pants. A grey line under the orange stripes.

Anyway, I'm more concerned about winning games than jerseys.
