The future of Smoky Grey uniforms

Throwing to an orange or white uniform flashing down the field a lot easier than trying to locate grey. We need to hire a good systems engineer or make the call to the engineering department and use technology to give us an edge once in a while. South Carolina plays a rooster over their loudspeaker...how about we record and play hounds on the hunt, shotguns, and cannon fire? Remember the Alamo? We are Volunteers! Coon dogs are our mascots.

I like them. I'm 55, been a fan since the early 70's and I don't see them as any kind of threat to Tennessee tradition.

If some of you dinosaurs

Not all of us "dinosaurs" dislike the smoky greys, but I would like to see one change to them and that's the helmet.

I would like to see the first helmet in the second row be used with the greys. I also wouldn't mind seeing the second helmet in the first row used occasionally.

Last thing. Respect your dinosaurs :)

Stop the grey. Only orange and white and bring back the band. I am tired of that rap crap all the time!!

We should just play crappy rock and country that no one under 40 listens to. That will definitely be a good environment the recruits will love. :thud:

No, it's not up to the players. Anybody going joining an organization that wears uniforms wears the uniform - not what he/she decides. That is the way it is and always has been whether it's military, UPS, or a sports team.

Someone has to decide. So who should that be, you?

I think they’ll stay for no other reason than perhaps the one that makes the world go round, money lol.

Take a look at our crowd the last few games, LOTS of grey merchandise is being purchased and it is a tribute to the most identifiable landmark we have our Smokie Mountains!

so the other teams that are wearing the same shade of grey are from the Smokies too ?

Most everyone I know like the greys. I know the players like them. I see the chants, third down songs, traditions as a way to make the game more fun, get the crowd involved, and hype up the team. You may not have liked "third down for wut? But Barnett and others really got into it. And yes, the recruits want to play at a place where it's a fun environment. So if a rap song or grey uniform fires up the team, then I'm all for it. I base these opinions on my own son when he played football, back then Boise state has just put the blue turf down. Seems every kid from here wanted to play there.

The kids love those unis (lest we forget they did win Uniswag's uniform of the year when they debuted). And they love the tricked-out cleats. Let's not forget how closely tied shoe culture is to high school / college football and pop culture in general. Right now I think its most important to give prospects as many reasons as possible to choose UT, and if providing hip and relevant shoe choices helps with that, I'm all for it. And the grey's are totally dope, ya bunch of olds. :D

Keep all the uni’s but please kill off that atrocious 3rd down music played EVERY time. For us oldies, also trash all the recorded music and leave it to the band.

Is anyone watching the Army/Navy game today with their special uniforms. How dare they do something different, even if it is to show honor. If Army can change things up, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. So for those who say teams shouldn’t wear alternates,

I'm fine with the Smokey Greys but I would like some Black and Orange uniforms for our closest home game to Halloween. Kind of like the ones we wore against SCAR during kiffin's season.

Nope. Some things have already been decided; someone joining the military doesn't decide on the uniform except by selecting branch - same for universities and color. Do you propose the shape and size of footballs should be up for consideration - that's pretty traditional.

I enjoy the smokey gray uniforms even though I’m more of a traditionalist. I do wish they would bring the two stripes on the pants back however.

Some would love that - some have even called for some of the songs - but that is not the music that players, recruits and most students listen too.

As long as they win, I'm not against letting the players decide on which uniforms they want to wear. If they're getting it done on the field, let them have fun while doing it.

I really like the smoky Greys, but would like to see a mix of our old unis too.

Yeah, cause the Army uniform looks exactly the same as it did in the 1800s. Lot of camo worn back then was there? Everything changes, the merry go round keeps going whether you’re on it or not.

My suggestions:

Get rid of the smoky grey unis.
Get rid of the lame DJ in the stand
Make Copperhead Row the 3rd down jam
More orange pants
