The future of Smoky Grey uniforms

I hope they get rid of the smokey greys. Any alternate needs to be an orange throwback.

Here is the best UT jersey in my lifetime. The 1997 adidas version is a thing of beauty, especially those road whites.

You're insane. Our uni's now look so much better.

Good grief! If we stopped doing everything associated with a coach when that coach is no longer coaching we would not have the following:

- Checkboard end zones
- Running through the T
- Vol Walk
- Power T.
- Rocky Top
- The maxims
- I will give my all for Tennessee today

etc. etc. etc.

Those things that the players, students etc. will want to remain will remain.

I was dubbed "Obsessive Woo Hater " on another board, which I now wear as a badge of honor.

Bring back "Down the Field!"

No way. The current ones are decidedly average. I don't like the gimmicky numbers or the lack of black on the road jersey.

Those 97s are pure class in every way. Absolutely beautiful.

The black looks so bad on the road uni's from the 90's. I love the storm troopers and i love that they brought back the pant stripes

Dump the gray uni's into the garbage can and throw both on the dumpster fire. Would be a constant reminder of Botch.

The black and orange combo is great.

The black outline on the old road jerseys was an atrocity. Our current storm trooper away and Orange on white home look is by far the best we've had. That's coming from an Adidas guy. I wouldn't mind changing the number font, other than that leave them alone.

It's a recruiting tool. Keep em!

Alabama seems to have great recruiting classes without the need for alternate uniforms. If the uniform is important enough to someone to make a difference where he plays, then I think pass is the correct option. Football is still a team sport, and team is the important thing; tradition is part of that.

Grey Jerseys make good smoke at dumpster fires. I support the smash mouth, professional, workmanlike, and traditional approach to Southern Football Saturday's. Leave that flash in the pan to Vandy...anchor down boys and girls.

Lol good for you..the woo is for women, children, and drunks, in which case.. I get it.. but if you're none of those, you probably shouldn't feel straight doing it.

Now that's old school right there. It was a little before my time when this was the norm but I has seen old film clips of this. It's my understanding that white road jerseys came about primarily to better distinguish between the teams for television coverage.

When TV was in black and white.

No gimmicks!

No more checkered end zones, no running through a giant T, no silly fight songs, no more dogs on the sidelines, no alternate jerseys.... blah blah blah.

I always thought it was interesting that the team look absolutely gassed on the field but yet could run TopSpeed between quarters

Never thought it made much sense to require a 20, 50, or 100 yd dash when players need everything they've got to finish the game, but then there were plenty of other things Butch did that never made a lot of sense either..

Up to the players. They are the ones wearing them.

I am for removing any hint of Butch Jones' used car salesman gimmicks on this program though.

No, it's not up to the players. Anybody going joining an organization that wears uniforms wears the uniform - not what he/she decides. That is the way it is and always has been whether it's military, UPS, or a sports team.

Well, I can at least agree with this! That song takes me back to the Dickey years and John Ward on the radio. Good times.

I;ll take you back even further. The only call in show was to get scores - "Hold That Line" after the game, which had been called by George Mooney and Bob Foxx on WNOX.

Phil's old school... nothing but orange and white, orange on orange, white on white,

And tear down that damned jumbotron while we are at it. I can't believe how quiet the crowd gets between plays.

If some of you dinosaurs had it your way we’d still be wearing the big baggy jerseys from the 70s that you could literally watch the pads sloshing around in freely as a player ran. Change and new things are part of life. If you have a problem with something ‘new’ and the players like it, it probably doesn’t actually suck near as much as you think it does.

I don't mind the Greys. But they should pick a new alt. The current one will forever have the stink of Butch on them.
