That video is absolute INSANITY. One girl on there fussing because her $3000+ per MONTH food stamps got cut. She has 9 kids and 5 men paying child support. Another girl has 7 kids and fussing because her $4000 per month food stamps got cut???

$3k to $4k a month??? WHAT?

Even with the greatly inflated price of groceries these days those are INSANE amounts of food. You can bet your butt that half that amount is being traded for drugs or other stuff. Those are INSANE numbers regardless of how many kids.

I just got laid off from a job i had for over 15 years at the same company making low 6 figures. For the sake of easy math let's just say $104k a year or $2000 a week gross. You know how much the maximum unemployment is in the state of NC? Its like $400 a week. That's not for groceries...thats supposed to somehow help me pay ALL my bills so my family isn't homeless. Unemployment insurance is actually paid in each week from payroll as well. So its not even a government handout like SNAP food...its just a small % return on all the money that's been paid into the system for 15 plus years (just this job). Not to mention the ~30% of my income thats taken out of my check every week, property taxes, sales tax, etc etc endlessly. The government takes about half of what I earn by the time all those taxes are paid. Permanently. My whole life. Yet when I get laid off and temporarily need some money back, I get 20% of my income from unemployment insurance with a hard cap on how long I can draw it (6 months maybe? Not sure. No intention of doing so)

How does that make any sense? Women who have spent half their lives on their backs to have 10 kids by at least 5 different men pay absolutely NOTHING into the system... give them $4000 a month for food alone. A guy works full time for decades and pays a fortune into the system...hundreds of thousands of dollars...and he gets less than $400 a week at most?? What kind of Liberal retarded logic makes that possible?

I don't know exactly what unemployment is for me btw...I havent filed for it. My last paid work day was 8.2.25 from the company but I havent filed because I don't need it right now and would prefer to just start somewhere else. I have a couple possibilities I am looking at now. Regardless, that video is absolutely ridiculous and every American should have a problem with that as you said...no matter what political views they hold.

Also...an elderly lady I know about 70 years old is a neighbor of a veteran that I look out for. She lives off her SS check and works part time as a cashier at a grocery store to supplement her SScheck. She is 70yo, overweight (not badly) has serious health problems and no family to take care of her. She gets $23 a month in food stamps because they count her SS and part time wages maybe 12hrs a week as income. 23 dollars a month. She barely scrapes by and I am pretty sure doesnt take all her medications because she has to choose between them and food sometimes. She wont admit that...but I think its true. I try to help her when I can. How does it make sense for her to get 23 dollars a month and those welfare queens get 3k or 4k a month in food alone while refusing to work? The worst 2 offenders I saw in that video were both white chicks btw...so the term "welfare queen" was certainly not intended to be racist against anyone of any color. The system is broken though. Total insanity. You can bet that anyone getting that much in just SNAP benefits for food knows how to game the system and is getting several other handouts as well. There are many different programs sadly that can be milked by those who are willing.

The system is broken when Viet Nam and Gulf War/M.E. vets are homeless and starving due to PTSD, mental illness, drug addictions etc....yet millions of illegal aliens were handed ATM cards and given free hotel rooms and apartments etc. When women like those in the videos can game the system for thousands of dollars a month AND continue having more fatherless children to maximize handouts....while those same veterans and hard working people struggle just to get by each week and month. The Covid nonsense made this problem much worse. Many people who werent working did whatever they could to get a full or partial disability claim...for things like migraines or back pain. They will be on the government dole until they die when many of them could actually work and support themselves. What a mess

I'm a leftist and damn sure know it's broken. I don't know anyone who believes the social services system is working as intended. About 40% of those applying should be turned down there should be reductions to another 40% and maybe an increase or some, like my cousin or Marcus s neighbor.

Just asking. Has she retired? If not, she should. If she has, why are they penalizing her for working? I thought you could work up to 1200 -1500 hrs a year with no hit to SS. Something sounds off here.

Yeah she draws SS. She earns less than the cap for it to affect her SS payments. Her little bit of income DOES count for her food stamps though (SNAP) which is why she only gets 23 dollars a month from them for food. Thats the ridiculous part. One of her neighbors doesnt work at all and gets $300 a month by herself for food. Instead of $23. So she is penalized for working part time. She should probably just quit her job...i doubt she brings home more than the $277 a month difference anyway. Elderly people tend to die if they have nothing to do but sit around all day though...in my family anyway.

IF the federal government was fiscally non-retarded, we could easily have a robust social services system that benefited everyone and probably cost taxpayers less than they pay now. But thats never gonna happen.

Agreed. Especially with housing costs having doubled. I don't know what family she may have in this case, but they aren't here in Charlotte. Americans do a terrible job taking care of elderly parents/grandparents compared to other countries like India and latino countries.
