Who was at fault on the fumbled handoff between Hooker and Small? ESPN articles are saying Hooker fumbled.

With respect to the OP...I don't care, and it don't matter. The HUGE takeaway is not what caused the fumble, but the FACT that Coach Heupel had the Vols SO WELL COACHED that nobody gave up a that moment... and his team kept FIGHTING FOR THE WIN..!!!!!
That's what champions do.
GO Big Orange..!!

Past Vol teams would have accepted defeat at that moment

Don't know but if you watched the latest SEC Shorts, my wife was tasing me after the scoop and score. Chronic BVS on full display. Did the Vols pull it out?
Yeah same here. I looked at my son and said "well there's the ball game". I truly did not believe we were winning that game until that wounded duck floated between the goalpoasts!

Hooker. You have to put that in the gut and push, you cannot let it go to the side as it did. Unless the RB is bumbling the ball, handoff failures are on the QB. You really have to stuff the ball into his gut so he knows it's his and take it. Soft or not on the mark and the RB thinks he is a decoy.

I believe it was Hooker’s fault. but he never flinched, and made up for it big time… we will most likely never see that again going forward

I thought Hooker at first, but Small did not play the next series until Wright needed a breather. Almost makes you think coaches think it was on Small as well.

No angry fits or sulking on the sidelines, just clear and make the next play. Same with McGrath. Mental toughness of these young guys is amazing.

Amen to Coach Heupel for that......the most underrated aspect of this team has been their poise.
