Fulmer was just an easier target. Fulmer won a championship right around the time of the Fulmer cup if I am not mistaken didn't he Hat?

Funny thing about the Fulmer Cup, I don't think any of his teams ever won it, ever.

I remember one year they were roasting Fulmer about it (the year we beat LSU at Baton Rouge with Rick Clausen) and come to find out both UGA and South Carolina had more arrests/tickets than UT did. Problem was ESPN was hilighting UT's problems and silent on UGA and USCe.

In our defense, look at what happened to those players. The guy who stole the dead girls credit card was kicked off immediately. He disgusted ALL Gator fans. The guy who hit a woman...same thing. Kicked off immediately. I would never condone myself or any of my future kids punching or harming a female, and I am glad Meyer has also.

Looking at this year's FC, UF and UT are staying out of trouble thus far... Let's hope it stays that way.

Fulmer Cup History

As far as I know, the Fulmer Cup was created after the much publicized off-season leading up to the 2005 football season. That year, UT had something like 20+ arrests between the bowl game and next season's kickoff.

Past Winners:

2008 - Alabama
2007 - Illinois
2006 - Marshall

You're one ugly story or video moment from turning those 23 arrests under Meyer into national fodder. He better get a handle on this.

He has brought in lecturers to talk to the team. He says he's leaned on assistant coaches.

"There's not a day that goes by that we don't discuss all of the issues, the potential issues, that are out there," he told The Gainesville Sun.

"We've had a few of them, but we're getting a little better."

Last week's arrest marks the fifth Gator arrested in a year. That's better? No one expects a perfect mark. These are college kids, after all. But the way things are going, maybe Meyer should try something different before his school's reputation changes.

Yeah, but what I was saying was I think it was that year that both UGA and USCe had more arrests/tickets than UT did but it was named the Fulmer Cup for purely partisan reasons, not actually leading the nation, or even the conference in off field trouble. One of the local sportswriters pointed it out and also pointed out to get to the 20+ number they were including tickets to fluff the numbers (ESPN was).

23 arrests in 4 years, that's impressive. Sounds like timmy tebone needs to do more of his missionary work in-house.

You're probably right on UGA and USCe in comparison, I was just offering the rationale of the Florida fans at EDSBS that started it.

Yeah, you guys forget it's ok to beat the hell out of women as long as you win.

It's ok to steal DEAD WOMEN'S credit cards, as long as you win.

Both these guys should have been kicked off immediately. Meyer would have looked really bad himself if he had not done so. However, I have my doubts that Percy Harvin was ever asked to take a drug test.

Just because it's worth noting if you didn't click my earlier link:

The Ellis T. Jones III Award

This award goes to the individual who contributes the most points to his team during the season, OR has the most incredible incident that resulted in Fulmer Cup points. Named after Ellis T. Jones III, the greatest collegiate criminal ever.
Ellis T. Jones III Award Winners:

* 2008: Alabama's Jimmy John with 20 points for selling cocaine.
* 2007: Ronnie M. Wilson of Florida, for firing off a semi-automatic rifle during a road rage incident.
* 2006: Ellis T. Jones himself, for 13 felony counts stemming from using Craigslist to meet robbery targets.

So, UT has never won the Fulmer Cup or the individual award.

Florida has won the individual award once

Alabama is the only school to be able to claim a Fulmer Cup title and an Ellis T. Jones III award winner.
