In 2016, I vowed that if we beat Florida, I wouldn’t shave or trim my beard for a full year. Then Danny O’Brien “stuck the hose in their mouth,” and my wife wasn’t too happy when I looked like some kind of religious zealot at her brother’s wedding 10 months later. Worth it, but I’d never do it again.

You would have earned some serious cool points if you dressed like Rasputin to go to the wedding.

Not saying it would have been worth the divorce, but cool points nonetheless.

The video clip aside, their program has me convinced that it's a huge risk to depend on the portal to build a program. I see it in the same line as JUCO kids. You really want to build through your recruiting and use the portal/JUCO for emergency filling of holes. Sadly, the portal/NIL has made it impossible to build depth and develop. Kids will bolt to what they see as greener pastures. It's just going to be a wild ride from this point forward.

As I've said before, you know its bad when us Gators are feeling some sympathy for our FSU fan brethren.

To me, its a cautionary tale of what NIL and the portal mean for the future of NCAA football. Your team one year to the next can have massive turnover and upheaval. They may then look good on paper, and it not gel into performance; converse also true.

Will be interesting a few years into it to look at the delta between preseason polls and final polls in, say, 2000 to 2010, and then 2020 to 2030. I imagine the variation in the latter will be much higher than the former.
