UTK's schedule is usually highly conducive to successful seasons. They usually get thier toughest OOC and Eastern Division games over in the first half of the season before injuries and depth really start to take a toll and then to close out they get to play some banged up teams that start the season with virtually no depth. I don't think anyone in the AD seriously wants to play UF and UGA in November on a regular basis. Quite frankly, I do not think UTK's scheduling could be any better save the occasional late season match-ups with LSU and the occasional OOC scheduling snafus with the likes of ND and Miami.no, that it's a good thing......for once........and i agree w/him........this is the first time i can remember thinking it's a good thing.
i agree with all that......the reason i hate playing fl so early is, it alway seemed to work out better for them than us......so it must be the scheduling right? after all, we always finished strong and always seemed to be better at the end, than in the beginning........UTK's schedule is usually highly conducive to successful seasons. True, and then there was 2001 when both squads were really national title contenders and the rescheduled game worked to UTK's advantage. I just figure that more often than not, the Gators will have a little edge on depth whether it's at a highly visible skill position or just having that extra tackle to call on. Plus, you get a little bit of the element of surprise from any new wrinkles you worked into the scheme (cuts both ways of course). I used to be one of those people who thought it would be better drama to move UT-UF to November but after much consideration I decided it really would not help the Vols.i agree with all that......the reason i hate playing fl so early is, it alway seemed to work out better for them than us......so it must be the scheduling right? after all, we always finished strong and always seemed to be better at the end, than in the beginning........
logically, i know that has nothing to do with the schedule itself.......afterall, it wasn't a disadvantage for FL....................

I do think that still would have worked to our advantage, seeing as how our Nov schedule is historically a non event, we could surely afford one big game that late. and as i recall, i think we attempted to do that, but FL resisted due to playing FSU in Novemenber.True, and then there was 2001 when both squads were really national title contenders and the rescheduled game worked to UTK's advantage. :thumbsup:Good post with the depth consideration analysis. I know one of the reasons Vols used to wish this game was later was because of fulmer's reluctance to play freshman early, the most glaring example being Jamal Lewis in '97. Fulmer seems to have changed his thinking on that one in recent years... as young guys have become major contributors early much more often.
Thats coaching jake. We've been close on talent alot of times. We just get outplayed and outcoached. I don't buy into all the florida gets two patsy's and we have to play tough teams garbage. Football comes down to execution and who has the better players. Most of the time (against florida) we've been on the short end of that stick.i agree with all that......the reason i hate playing fl so early is, it alway seemed to work out better for them than us......so it must be the scheduling right? after all, we always finished strong and always seemed to be better at the end, than in the beginning........

bro...dang man. after you push up your glasses a little and snort a couple of times after explaining that Gondor has seven moons learn to have a little fun. Sheez. Go watch Lord of the Rings again, move out of your mom's basement...oh and quit wearing denim shorts. I think UT has a good chance to win...we can only see when they take the field.
4. Who is Gondor?
We win this game! Reason... Good chance im going, and with me there the intensity level on the vols side will be unreal! Loudest fan in Neyland right here! I promise to have no voice after the game!
Its easier to control the clock with the run. Trying to do it with the pass means putting the ball in tight spaces alot. Doing that for eight to 12 plays or even longer is hard to do without something going wrong.Seriously? For someone lauding their education you do not recognize a popular fictional setting? I mean, it's cool if you don't like Tolkein, but considering all the press the movies garnered it just seems impossible to not recognize something from his famous works of fiction.
Back on Topic, I'm not really sure the running game is the most important part. I think it will be important, and maybe it will be pivotal, but I tend to think keeping our defense off the field will be the most important game aspect. If that involves pounding the rock, so be it, but if we have to accomplish it through the air I'm fine with that too. I always felt like last year's debacle was a combination of piss poor offense, and a defense that couldn't catch a breather.
There is no reason to believe that "1" will hold true. "3" is nonsensical.
Therefore, we are to expect that we should win because we "will be amped for the game," as opposed to our usual demeanor come Florida week?
I'm sorry, but it's going to take a lot more argument than that for me to expect a win.
Somebody might need to take some time off... I'm not mentioning any names or anything.... :whistling:1. Doctors do not, as a general rule, live in their moms' basements
2. I prefer a stethoscope, command of the English language, and three degrees to denim shorts
3. My seasonal allergies are well controlled with antihistamines and nasal steroids, so I don't snort
4. Who is Gondor?
I never said we don't have a chance to win; I just stated that hot dogs, flat cokes, and no-longer-existent brown mustard don't do much to convince me of our superiority.
I say we win, but im one of the few super-optimistic people on this site..
We're going to torch them w/ our offense on their sub-par defense, so we will have the oppertunity to score often and quickly. Florida will more than likely be limited to running the ball, because of our secondary. I just don't think they will be able to score enough to keep up, no matter how good their offense is.
