The first half

They started fast on both sides, we were on our heels. We responded, settled in and won the 2nd quarter. Our coach has a set unlike the car salesman.

May not win the game but this bunch responded well to a rough start.

Yes they responded well. I have to admit that I would have went for 3....what a great play

Is that the reason? The half time show commentator was befuddled as why they switched to that 3 down lineman and stopped blitzing.
The toss and positive passing plays are why. If they kept blitzing, Helton was going to toss and screen them to death. Not sure why the announcers didn't see that.

Secondary is young but I think we have some real players with Taylor, Thompson and Flowers. They are going to make some mistakes but they also have the athleticism to take one to the house any given play. Let’s hope it’s on the first drive of the second half

Looked like to me our guys were still in practice mode. Got a little better in the 2nd qtr.

OL still has their work cut out for them. Probably won't be a force there until a year or two later.

Play calling has been pretty good. We've seen more different plays in the first half than all of Butch's tenure.

Freshman DBs are impressing. They aren't shut down but it's impressive they are playing against a high powered offensive as true freshmen.

Jordan runs hard

Oline/Dline getting manhandled
Kennedy looks terrible at C or worse
Tackling is poor
JG one of few bright spots for Vols

If we win the penalty and turnover battle second half, get some more pressure on Grier for more continued good stops and put together more touchdown drives, we can win this one. I've loved the ball security. We step up the blocking all around, run more north and south, and keep building on the things that worked first half with balanced offense, we have a good one to look forward to. We can win the field position battle, force turnovers and capitalize where we have the advantages/mismatches. I'm really pleased with no turnovers. Todd Kelly, Jr. doesn't give up that 59 yarder if he was out there. Need solid tackling every time and no arm tackles. Penalties cost points by keeping drives alive when we had the stop that resulted in giving up points. We're in this and can get on top with more determination.

After the second offensive series I thought, "3- 9 easily". Now, I will take a struggling OL the way JG and WRs (and Jordan) are playing. We have a chance. Im surprised that Pruitt has played so conservative on D even with a shaky secondary. Maybe we'll see a lot more blitzing after hes had a chance to get a feel for their O. Lets be real tho, Grier has left some points off the board.

I'm glad Pruitt went public with what I thought was his take. We re playing to win football games. F a moral victory. It may cost him some "points" in games they dont win but will pay off in the long run.

I think the idea is we have to get TDs and hold them to some FGs to win. We re gonna give up yards.

Since we are on a weather delay... What game is everyone else watching? Ga is playing a cupcake team.. easy to score when you're not having to face a good defense.

Watching the ky and Central Michigan game.

Kentucky still sucks .

As we head into the 2nd half...I can only say that I hope they worked with the D to prevent that WHEEL ROUTE....that can be our undoing
