Right! Because he's a proven rebuilder? LOL Or because he's had a tremendous amount of success running a multi-tiered organization? LOL
Leach made Texas Tech and Washington State relevant. Tennessee is the worst team in the SEC. Vandy showed us that. Leach has taken teams like the Vols and made them competitive.

Because they think Fulmer can do no wrong. He walks on water and killed him a bear when he was only 3. All those players of his who got arrested during his time were falsely accused by overzealous police. And him doing his own rape inquiry at Shoney's should have been perfectly OK with the Knox county DA. Oh yes, Fulmer will return us to greatness. He oozes competence and character.
Haha. Who was that lawyer of his who was at Shoney's too? God that was classic Foolmer

According to reports. Haslam lost influence through Schiano and the fraud trial. Currie panicked and tried to get in good with the other side/find a landing spot. It was too late. The decision to fire Currie had already been made by the other boosters and Davenport. The Haslam candidate to replace Currie was not promoted to AD. Haslam losing influence and control started this whole cycle. Currie was the just the face of it. Haslam tried to use him as a fall guy, but it did not work.

Methinks ya'll watch far too many Soap Operas (or Stories as my Granny used to call them.)

I have zero idea what happened with this firing but my guess is Currie pissed off the wrong person and then broke some rule. That is pretty much how most people end up fired from any job. Maybe he was the good guy or may not but I'll bet it is closer to like Dave Mason crooned to us a few years ago "There ain't no good guys, there ain't no bad guys"

Hopefully Fulmer can land the right guy. There are a couple out there that i pray do not end up in Knoxville but overall I'm willing to give anyone hired an opportunity to succeed or fail.

Let's see DC calling OC out - yeah I believe that.

And if Shoop couldn't think with loud music - maybe that is why he could not coach on game days with crowd noise much louder.

You can believe what you want to believe, but everything I post on here is true. And, it wasn't Shoop calling out Larry Scott. He was highlighting what a circus the environment was. There's a time for loud music and there's a time to teach. How can you prepare the players for all kinds of situations with the constant distractions?

Geez...Leach had nothing to do with it. Currie firing decision was made the day before. Beverly called him home and he didn't come, instead getting on a KSU booster's plane and heading for west coast. Was he there to try to get Leach or something else? No one really knows, but it's pretty obvious he knew his time was ending. Haslam didn't want him fired, hell, Haslam hired him. But, the other boosters and the public perceptions that were killing TN became too much to overcome. That's when the other folks in the chain began to look at their own jobs and if they were safe.

I think even Haslam wanted Currie fired once he interviewed Leach. Currie tried to switch sides too late in the game. At that point the Haslams wanted to replace Currie with Sigmon and the other side wanted Fulmer.

Leach doesn't have to have elite talent to win games.

Fulmer thinks he can go old school and hire someone to run his power offense that worked when he out talented almost everyone in the 90s.

10 years later, he still hasn't figured out the rest of the East upgraded their coaching and recruiting and caught up with him.

I expect to be completely underwhelmed by his hire and won't be remotely surprised if Sanders and Chavis gets a 6 or 7 figure life raft thrown their way in the process.

What proof do you have to base this claim on? If you think Fulmer is out of touch with the current offensive landscape that would be your opinion and you are entitled to it, but up to this point, Fulmer has done or said NOTHING to support your stance. You just sound like an angry Fulmer hater. He is one of the 2 best shots we have to restore the program. Get on board and support the reVOLution or go jump on the bammer bandwagon. Your life will be happier either way.

There's nobody over in the UT Admin, AD, or the boosters that want someone walking around knoxville shirtless telling people he's a pirate while running the UT football program.

If it comes down to another Dooley or Jones I'll gladly take the winning Pirate.

Leach's offense would get smoked in this conference.

You do realize he was the O.C. while at Kentucky when Jared Lorenzen was making us out score him... the game was like 46 -40 or something like that. Kentucky scored a lot of points on everyone. He has had good offense everywhere he has been. Having said that, not sure I would want him because of his personality, but I am sure if winning championships, I could overlook it. :)

EDIT: Looks like score was 59-31 against Clausen led Tn team he passed for over 400 yds
