Beverly and Phil didnt give much info on what led to Currie's firing, but we do know he was closing in on a really good coach when he was fired. So what gives? Why was the man fired just when he finally started doing his job? People say he was a Haslam yes man and opted to go rogue to find a good coach when he started taking heat from the fanbase, which ticked the Haslams off and led to his firing. If the Haslams wanted him gone and got their way, why do people assume Fulmer taking the job will change everything?

There's nobody over in the UT Admin, AD, or the boosters that want someone walking around knoxville shirtless telling people he's a pirate while running the UT football program.

No offense but were we really closing in on Leach? Was he really even offered? This whole week has been filled with nothing but rumors and heresay.

Fulmers hiring will not change everything. But it could be a step in the right direction.

No one wanted Leach until we almost hired Schiano and Doeren. After those two turds, Leach seemed like Vince Lombardi.

He took off his leash and left the yard. He got punished.

Yes, at least that is what it looks like. But my question is why do people assume Fulmer will do any better in that no-win situation? If they would not let Currie do his job, why would they let Fulmer?

According to reports. Haslam lost influence through Schiano and the fraud trial. Currie panicked and tried to get in good with the other side/find a landing spot. It was too late. The decision to fire Currie had already been made by the other boosters and Davenport. The Haslam candidate to replace Currie was not promoted to AD. Haslam losing influence and control started this whole cycle. Currie was the just the face of it. Haslam tried to use him as a fall guy, but it did not work.

That doesnt mean anything. How many UT fans even follow the PAC-12, much less WS? When his name came up, people started doing research and liked what they saw. The guy is a winner.

We’ll probably never know the 100% truth but this is what appears to have happened. First off we have a lot of big money boosters, not just Haslam even tho he is the biggest. Apparently Currie and decided to hire his friend Schiano and Haslam was either consulted or advised of the hire. However the other big boosters were either kept in the dark, or what is more likely were lied to by the athletic dept and Currie about the direction the coaching search was taking and were never told about Schiano.

These boosters, who are being asked to fund a $340 million stadium renovation, didn’t like being lied to and threatened to pull their funding for the renovations. Currie kept trying to hire coaches but the damage had been done, he had lied to them, they didn’t trust him, so if UT wanted the money to come in for the renovations then he had to go.

My opinion is that Fulmer was brought in to bring the boosters together again

That makes sense. Thank you

He can dress like that on the sideline if he wins the SEC east and plays for championships!!

Don’t know about Leach but Kiffin and Sumlin will. Can you imagine what Kiffin could do at FSU?
That is the second best scenario if he doesn;t come here. He would beat the dog crap out of FU every year.
