The final straw

....and, that is pretty much what VOLNATION is for...idle talk.

Nothing we say here affects the outcome in the the big picture, so let's not pretend like it does. So quit coming down on fans if they want to discuss their opinion of the state of affairs at UT..

GBO!!:hi:
Who is coming down on fans? Support the team regardless of the coach.

Imagine that you are the A.D. and the fans are upset... However; there is a chance that bUTch can turn things around and have another 9 win season..
Also, imagine that the Boosters are telling you to let it play out and he will lose more games and end up firing himself.

What if they fire him prematurely and othe rcoaches notice this and will not touch Tennessee with a ten foot pole???

To answer your question, should we lose another game, other than Alabama, bUTch will be fired....
A win over USC would buy him two more weeks. But a loss to USC and he is fired on Sunday morning.

Doubt it. Won't be fired, if he is fired, until the end of the season and only after a replacement has been found.

If we lose enough to lose bowl eligibility before the final game or two he will be fired following loss #7. Otherwise they will keep him on through the regular season.

The only positive is the Vols have a winning record and the culture has improved in the area of academics. And b/c of this improvement, Butch could do very well in administration. On the field coaching, he is just average or below.

Assuming the camel's back is still intact, I would say any loss other than Alabama should do it.

That being said, I believe the decision has already been made.

A loss to USCe should do it. UGA should have done it.

I hate to say it because he shouldn't... but Jones probably still survives with an 8-4 finish. I don't think he survives 7-5. He's golden if he beats the teams remaining on the schedule with less talent plus a bad LSU team to finish 9-3.

As bad as Dooley was... his worst loss was in his first year but 35 points to Oregon whose only loss of the year was by 3 points in the NC game to Auburn.

Jones lost by 45 to Oregon in year 1 and 35 to Bama in the same year. Everyone excused it and blamed Dooley.... now we're in year 5 and UGA just gave UT the worst beating it has had in 100 years... and Bama looms on the horizon.

How many final straws are needed?

IMO, Currie is doing what needs to be done behind the scenes. No way he lets this catastrophe continue and retain Jones next year as a first year AD. That would basically set the precedent that he is incompetent and unwilling to make critical decisions. Ultimately, the success of the athletic program rides on his shoulders

What makes you say that Currie is doing anything?

I'm one of the most positive people I know and I got off the bus early this season. The Florida game was just awful and UGA was gut wrenching. And it wasn't the losses, I can handle a loss in a game that has an oblong ball. It was the overall lack of effort from the players, lack of creativity by the coaches and the no motivation to even try anything to change things around.

In the Florida game the effort was there by the players. What did you see to make you say they weren't trying?

If you think an avalanche of negative BS spewed from this board doesn't affect anything, you're the one pretending. Whether the rumor and innuendo starts here or is simply spread here it impacts the perception of the program. Once it is accepted as fact on these boards (even when it's ludicrous) the talking heads are soon on board. Finebaum apparently reads the drivel from some of the Fahr Butch boys and continues to disseminate it to the masses.

So keep on running down the coaches on a public forum and telling yourself it's the same thing as water cooler talk and you'll see the program hit all time lows. Both coaches and recruits will run away from UT just to avoid busting their asses to get publicly ridiculed by the Legions of the Miserable.

You are a NegaVol, and it is not healthy for our recruits to read about disputes over Coach Jones on VolNation. The job of this forum is to promote our wonderful program and coach! It's time we all get behind our marvelous coach and get ready to go to New Orleans! :dance2:

So.....this guy is a troll...look at his/her profile.Good one.

What is the final straw will it take to break the camel's back? What else has to happen before he is shown the door? I've never seen such a train wreck that has unfolded before our eyes. Someone please tell me that there is something positive going on. I'm not able to see it. AM I negative or just realistic?:loco:

Didn't you hear? They just had the best bye week ever.

Most understand it would be astronomically, numerically, positively impossible for Currie to be as mind-numbingly tone deaf as you and Butch seem to be.

What are the chances two men, with offices so close, and intertwining daily lives, could be such oblivious, stone-headed unreachable stumble-bums?
