The final straw

No one on volnation knows ANYTHING about Butch's future at Tennessee, or what will happen at the end of the season. It is all idle talk at this point.

....and, that is pretty much what VOLNATION is for...idle talk.

Nothing we say here affects the outcome in the the big picture, so let's not pretend like it does. So quit coming down on fans if they want to discuss their opinion of the state of affairs at UT..

GBO!!:hi:

It's broken we are just waiting now. This all started last season against App State, the most talented Vol team we've had in years and they barely won that game and lost two this they should've won for sure (South Carolina and vandy). It was a sign of the locker room not being on the same page and it starts with the coach.

To collect his buyout?

If he’s been told he’s done then the buy out is his whether he stays or goes.

You don’t tell an employee they are fired then allow them to work 2 more months and potentially torpedo your business from the inside.

Rare instances like Fulmer will a coach choose to finish out the regular season for his players and HIS University.

You are a NegaVol, and it is not healthy for our recruits to read about disputes over Coach Jones on VolNation. The job of this forum is to promote our wonderful program and coach! It's time we all get behind our marvelous coach and get ready to go to New Orleans! :dance2:

Yep I believe that is correct what concerns me is the will of the AD and the power brokers to invest the kind of money it will take to get rid of Jones and hire the right coach. I want to believe it will happen but We aren’t very good at any sport right now so I have little confidence

Butch was better cruiter of the 2. As far as coaching.....

As far as coaching one beat FL, UGA, and SC. The same one also went to and won 3 bowl games. The other never did.

To be clear... I’m not arguing Butch is the man and should be retained after the season. The hyperbole that this worst situation TN has ever been in needs to chill.

If he loses this week to a bad SC team, he might as well resign. I think the heat on Currie from fans, media, and what seems like some players is to high, he'll have to fire him if he loses. I think the only reason why he hasn't fired him yet is because Butch turned the program around and we've gone 9-4 the past two seasons.

What is the final straw will it take to break the camel's back? What else has to happen before he is shown the door? I've never seen such a train wreck that has unfolded before our eyes. Someone please tell me that there is something positive going on. I'm not able to see it. AM I negative or just realistic?:loco:

Imagine that you are the A.D. and the fans are upset... However; there is a chance that bUTch can turn things around and have another 9 win season..
Also, imagine that the Boosters are telling you to let it play out and he will lose more games and end up firing himself.

What if they fire him prematurely and othe rcoaches notice this and will not touch Tennessee with a ten foot pole???

To answer your question, should we lose another game, other than Alabama, bUTch will be fired....
A win over USC would buy him two more weeks. But a loss to USC and he is fired on Sunday morning.

I'm one of the most positive people I know and I got off the bus early this season. The Florida game was just awful and UGA was gut wrenching. And it wasn't the losses, I can handle a loss in a game that has an oblong ball. It was the overall lack of effort from the players, lack of creativity by the coaches and the no motivation to even try anything to change things around.

Agree....heck, I fully expected an on-side kick to open the 3rd quarter of the UGA game to ignite a spark and put some points on the board. Just like the cereal..Nut-n-Honey. :thud:

Nah. He's already been the coach of 3 of the worst beatings we've ever had. Let him coach another. Sexton will have a tougher time getting a MAC level job for Butch after Bama hangs 70 on him.
