What is the final straw will it take to break the camel's back? What else has to happen before he is shown the door? I've never seen such a train wreck that has unfolded before our eyes. Someone please tell me that there is something positive going on. I'm not able to see it. AM I negative or just realistic?:loco:

You must have been asleep during the Dooley years if you think this is the worst it’s been in recent history.

IMO, Currie is doing what needs to be done behind the scenes. No way he lets this catastrophe continue and retain Jones next year as a first year AD. That would basically set the precedent that he is incompetent and unwilling to make critical decisions. Ultimately, the success of the athletic program rides on his shoulders

Maybe it has already been done. I'd like to think that he's been told that he'll be bought out after the season.

Butch wants to be successful here but it’s not like Fulmer who bled orange for 34 years of his life. Why would Butch stay and put himself and his family through the abuse if he’s been told he’s done?

I'm one of the most positive people I know and I got off the bus early this season. The Florida game was just awful and UGA was gut wrenching. And it wasn't the losses, I can handle a loss in a game that has an oblong ball. It was the overall lack of effort from the players, lack of creativity by the coaches and the no motivation to even try anything to change things around.

Waiting too late to make the QB change. It was so obvious against GT and then really only got worse.

Now we have no real shot at winning the SEC East and we finally make the right change. Because of that, JG is finally our starting QB with much less experience than he should at this point.

It is really sad that this program will probably take a recruiting hit and take another 5 years to be competitive.

I wonder what would have happened if we just let Fulmer stay. Probably not another NC, but consistent and competitive.

No one on volnation knows ANYTHING about Butch's future at Tennessee, or what will happen at the end of the season. It is all idle talk at this point.

While I agree with what you are saying it's concerning to see it steadily headed back to that place. I mean are they going to wait until we are at Dooley level before doing anything?

Another loss that isn't Alabama should be the final straw. I don't expect Jones to beat Bama even as well as we have recruited they have recruited a lot better. I do expect to beat SC and everyone else on the schedule. If not plenty of reason to move in another direction.

At the beginning of the season, I was led to believe that he could save his job with 6 wins or more but as of now I don’t think he can save his job short of going 8-4 or 9-3. I haven’t heard anything in a little while but I believe he knows he is out. The only thing that makes me hesitant is if he does truly know then why wait till the end of the season. There is no benefit to waiting.

The Carolina game being at noon doesn't help, if the Vols drop it it will set up a horrible October followed up by losses at Bama and UK. Jones has reached his ceiling, I say we win six and he should be let go following Vandy.
