The fact that Arch Manning is not even visiting UT...

People need to realize Peyton was the one who strayed away in the Manning family. Archie will go to Ole Miss, just like his father would have, his uncle did, and his grandfather did. The only way that’s not the case is if Kirby drops some serious cash on him, which we know he’ll try to do.

Which pretty much EVERY school can now do 110% legally

Needed some commas…it was really convoluted. Are you saying fear of SIMMS was the deciding factor? Not family tradition and respect for Cutcliffe? VN…rewriting history since 2005. 😏

Eli was leaning towards Texas until Simms flipped his commitment from UT to Texas, then he went with Ole' Miss which was his number two, in spite of Arch having attended, and Cutcliffe being HC.

Florida was only an afterthought by that point in his recruiting.

A player like him can make big $ thru the NIL promotion jobs. It may be a business decision. Recruiting is changing now.

Tennessee hasn't developed a qb in years and runs an offense that seems to prioritize running ability over passing. Why would he come here?
Even if you concede this, it has nothing to do with the current staff's ability to develop a QB. It would be silly to blame Heupel for something that Jones and Pruitt failed to do.... and I disagree that the system prioritizes running over passing. This staff doesn't have much to work with on the passing front. The offense should look much different when that changes, and it will. Now having said all of that... it's true that Tennessee has way too many question marks right now to have any appeal to a 5 star QB.

Other than watching his brother play at UT, Cooper has zero interest at any time in Tennessee. In fact until Peyton played here, Cooper probably despised Tennessee (Olivia did).

FWIW, i heard yesterday it was probably between Ga and Texas so Tennessee & Ole Miss better find someone who can sack him.

I think 8 losing seasons out of the past 13…….shows us where we are……don’t you think?

I think Dooley, Butch, & Pruitt has shown us where we are……wouldn’t you agree?

I think 3-7 has definitely shown us all where this program has fallen…….and Arch has nothing to do with it………not even the realization.

If that’s what it took…….then my goodness you’ve been lost in the forest for quite some time.

UT is not even a school that Arch Manning is considering...He is not even visiting UT. I think this shows where we are as a program.
I don't think so, this program is facing some kind of sanctions in the near future which is exactly what Peyton was going through when he was deciding his future with Ole Miss looking at sanctions as well. Just because his uncle came to Tennessee doesn't mean he should have us on his list of schools. His Grand Dad went to Ole Miss and so did his Father and his other uncle Eli but even that doesn't mean he will go there either. The shape we are in right now and with the coming sanctions lets just hope we can start to climb back to some respectability sooner rather than later because we can't afford to go looking for another head coach two years from now. I wish he would come to Tennessee myself but it ain't gonna happen.

Actually, no it doesn't.

All it really shows is you have taken a data point and used it to justify your own biases and projections. Only Arch and his family are privy to his reason behind his recruitment. There is no guarantee Arch would come here even if we were Bama-level dominant.

Were I Arch, I wouldn't want to follow a legend family member to a school at which he is revered. I would want to blaze my own trail. Create my own legacy. Become revered on my own terms.
I can say that here in Georgia, the legend of McDad has blazed trails since your date with @LouderVol .

I followed the same recruitment as much as you could in those day before social media. Texas was all in on flipping Simms from the moment he committed to us. Eli was rumored to be solid to Ole Miss from the very beginning and never really wavered. Where’d you get your “leaning Texas” tidbit? I was down here and knew some Longhorn boosters and all I heard was their efforts on Simms.

Arch is going to end up at either Ole Mississippi, LSU, or Arkansas. He wants to stay within shouting distance of home.

Why would Arch ever consider Tennessee anyway with his family’s legacy being at Ole Miss, because his uncle went here? Peyton only came here because Ole Miss was on probation and were crap as an organization at the time.

I would be shocked if Arch ends up at LSU. OM people despise LSU. I know things have changed but that is heresy to those people. If the kid wants to pave his own way like his Uncle then UGA or Texas would be best path.

Why in the world would he want to be in the shadows of his uncle? Ever single thing he ever did would be compared to an all time great. If, I were Arch, I would not consider UT either. I think he is making the best decision for him.

So we’re mid 90’s Ole Miss right now .

This offense doesn't remotely prioritize running over passing. It is currently adjusted to what we have in the QB room, the WR and OL. Heupel has produced 5 4000+ yard passing seasons and 3 more over 3500 in his career. Tennessee has never had a 4000 yard passer and only has 3 seasons over 3500 in school history.

Sorry, but this is ridiculous. He isn’t Peyton’s son, he’s his nephew. The Manning family has way more ties to Ole Miss than UT, and if anything Peyton breaking that connection shows why Arch might be looking elsewhere.

Also, he doesn’t fit this offense. He isn’t exactly dual threat.
