You win in this league with great OL and DL.. Period. You can't hide if you do have eons or both.. You will be exposed

This 100%. We have gotten better upfront with some continuity, but our top talent is still very young on both lines. Our most talented DTs are true freshman. Our most talented DEs (with Maggit out) are a true freshman and sophomore. Our most talented OL are several sophomores and true freshman.

There are some grown up skill players, but the guys on the line of scrimmage that are capable of going toe to toe with the Oklahoma and Alabama's of the world are all in their first and second years in the program. What happened when Crowder replaced Robertson at LG is a prime example of that. Hurd doesn't get hit 5 yards behind the line there, and I bet TN at least kicks a FG and wins the game.

I think Tennessee is better most everywhere, but there are places where they haven't gotten better and it's dragging the whole thing down.

The offensive line is a problem. I don't know what Butch has signed, but it's not where it needs to be. Linebacker isn't where it needs to be.

The offense was better in 2012. The defense was light years worse.

An advantage for Butch is that in 2015, Florida, Vandy, Georgia, and even Alabama are worse than in 2012.

Kentucky is better. Missouri is better.

Gator I posted in another thread about what volquest said and I believe they were referring to both sides of lime of scrimmage but they said they have seen younger frosh and sophmores out play older guys and they are baffled why you don't play them when you preach competition. I would be remiss if I didn't say it and most everyone will agree that jack Jones and chance hall are better on right side of the line. Will they make mistakes. Sure they will they will get beat too. But crap so is the veteran part of that line so why not play the more talented group period it's give you best chance to win. Volquest was practically calling coaches out on what they have seen from their own eyes......that how I took it

Longtime lurker here,

All the complaining the past few days has compelled me to give my 2 cents..

I don't know about anybody else, but Saturday night is the first time since 2009 I have watched a tenn game with that much excitement. My heart was pounding the entire time. I have missed that feeling and I thank Butch Jones for bringing that feeling back.

I hate the way we lost, but it was not all because of game management. Butch jones does need to improve in game management, but I have been very impressed with recruiting, player development, and those boys came out ready to play Saturday night.

Let's please not treat butch jones like Derek Dooley, we have improved every year.

well said :hi:
