When Woodruff retired he directed the band at halftime of the 1985 Vandy game. About 25 of the 1981 version of Smokey did the circle drill around him while he danced in the center waving his arms like a maestro in an orange sport coat.

I feel like I saw Smokey a lot more in the late 90s-2000s. The costume and the dog are both excellent symbols.

I have wasted a lot of tailgating time in recent years trying to find this pup. I've been to AGR, to the alumni tailgate, and on and on and can never locate him. Now, I know that a couple of years ago when they were training the new Smokey he was a bit shy and only came out to run through the T but assume he's getting accustomed to being Smokey. So, how the heck can I meet this little guy??
