The Everything Fantasy Football Thread

So, who else is thinking about starting Torrey Smith next week? I know he only had one catch for 1 yard, but Flacco threw it deep deep to him at least 3 times that I saw, and the Jets secondary is solid. He could have easily had a 30 point game if they hooked up on those three passes. He had the safety/corner beaten on each one.

With me, I'm just wary of relying on rookies in general. When I do, it tends to be guys like Daniel Thomas or maybe a J. Jones/A. Green type that seem like they'll get consistent opportunities. Speed guys like Smith, Lee Evans, and even the good ones like DJax tend to have either huge games or disappearing acts.

Doesn't help that Flacco has been so inconsistent himself; even Boldin is hard to rely on in that offense. So with a rookie (inconsistency is a given), inconsistent type of player, inconsistent QB, there are just too many question marks there for me. JMO though, of course

Okay, question time.

I'm submitting a waiver claim on Ryan Torain, but the only people I can really justify dropping for him are Denarius Moore, Michael Bush or Torrey Smith.

I feel like Smith could have much more upside, but Bush is going to be the most consistent. Also, I'm just kinda attached to D-Mo :)

Who would you drop, conditionally. Torain probably won't even make it to me, but my team is bad, so I'm full of all the waiver wire pickups, and I'm afraid I'm trying to bet on too many of them.

I'm with you. I basically have to operate hair-on-fire every week, because I got auto'd and two of my three studs had long term injuries (Colston and Miles Austin). I always feel like taking a roster spot from a proven commodity and giving it to a guy based on upside will turn out being a bad bet. I'd be inclined to stay with what you've got.

But in my eyes Denarius Moore and Torrey Smith are far from proven commodities in fantasy. Michael Bush is proven to be mediocre. Unfortunately, mediocre is better than half my team.

if I had to choose I'm throwing Smith to the side. Moore is unproven but is also getting to be a part of the offense and their running game is starting to roll. He'll see more chances

the wife's first 2 auto-draft picks were Manning and Arian so she was hurting early. Sometimes it takes a while for a team to come around. Think I started 1-3 in my league last year and ended up winning after some good FA pickups

I think Torain is more valuable than all three. Shanahan loves the RB carousel, but I think he likes Torain and based on what I saw last year, he should.

I'd keep Moore though because if nothing else, he's put up enough points that you can get something for him in a trade. Between the other two, it depends which is more of a position of strength for you. I'd probably keep Smith in a shallower league and Bush in a deeper one (where he would be much better than most of the free agent RBs).

Going to begin permanently starting Cam Newton this week barring any colossal setbacks. Hopefully it pays off. Don't have many other options right now after drafting Manning in my league.

Him and McFadden are killing it for me right now.

Picked up Torain this week too. Worried about Benson's suspension.

Anybody know the latest on Colston?

Okay. I have to drop a RB, and I've narrowed it down to a Washington RB. Who do I drop, Helu or Torain? I feel like Torain has probably more short-term upside, but Helu will be good down the stretch. I know whichever I pick will be wrong.

The problem is, there are plenty of underperformers that I should drop, but can't bring myself to, like DeAngelo Williams. I still feel like he's going to turn it on at some point and play well enough to pull ahead of Stewart, rather than continue to split carries 50/50. Should I drop Williams?

Eff it. I dropped Helu for Isaac Redman, just in case Mendenhall sits. If Mendenhall practices tomorrow, I'll probably try to drop him and re-add Helu.

I'm in a somewhat smaller league and may run from Reggie Wayne like a burning house. Not sure though.

Well, if there's a week where he will blow up, it's this one. If he can't put up points against KC, I'll drop him.

Adrian Peterson has 3 touchdowns in the 1st quarter. So I guess that guy is winning his game this week

Vick has thrown 3 interceptions in the first half. Guess that guy is going to lose this week

Gotta whine somewhere. Wanted to pick up and stash Tebow, but the bye weeks prevented me from dropping needed players for open positions. John Fox decides to put in the hated former Gator and he's lighting things up in Mile High. I hope Denver's week six bye prevents some people from rostering number 15. the dude won me a couple of fantasy super bowls with his legs last year.

What is he lighting up, exactly? He didn't have a single freaking passing yard until that screen pass.

Denver fans who want Tebow to start are an absolute joke.

He still got me a respectable 21 points iirc. I wound up benching rapelisberger though.

Ill need a miracle from the lions d and/or Johnny Knox tonight to get the w.

they're looking for any sort of glimmer and Orton is their scape goat. I noticed alot of what he (Tebow) was running was the same as what he did at UF. That might work this year but NFL are smart enough they will figure a way to stop that.
