the ever-changing NIL landscape

No offense taken by this Tulane alum. I posted what I was sent by the athletic department.

Tulane is a bit player when it comes to NIL and college athletics. Tulane athletics doing well on a big stage is not to be expected, so when it happens, it’s special.

What’s happening to their collective may be indicative of coming changes to other colleges with the pending settlement of a suit against the NCAA. Or possibly not; time will tell.

Why do you hate the Tulanes of college athletics? I don’t understand.
I think he meant the Cinderellas (like Tulane) have been killed by NIL and the transfer portal. It will be interesting if more universities bring their collective in house post settlement.

How many of the sports programs get NIL money?
I’m guessing but obviously the big 3 plus women’s basketball. No way DW doesn’t give his new hire the tools to succeed in women’s bball (and deservedly so). I doubt there’s any material NIL money elsewhere unless you have some “one off“ deals that some deep pocketed donors have an appreciation for…. The NIL market in football and basketball has skyrocketed in last couple of years.

no official records but I’d be shocked if Fischer, Doyle, or Gavin got more than $500K combined.
If they did it would be the most ever given since NIL started. I'm telling yall baseball NIL has not been anywhere near what most think. It may have changed this year but I know what it was last year.

Over in Lady Vols Forum word was Pickens made more NIL money than any Lady Vols Basketball player last season.🤷

I should have said all the newcomers combined. I wish there were rules against true freshman receiving NIL but cats already out of bag on that one.

I would be surprised if that is true but hopefully it is getting better. Kirby did a good job of finding his own and that helped. I would love to see baseball competitive with other SEC teams.

The question I have about this…maybe several, a 21 year old due to age as a sophomore is he more inclined to stay, same with a junior? In other words…does this make college baseball more attractive to stay put? Not talking about the top 1%.

I don’t think so…College Baseball didn't make the big 3 (football, basketball, and women’s basketball) and will be lumped into all of the others (rowing, gymnastics, etc) dividing up 5% for revenue sharing.

What has me wondering…UTSA beat Texas. Their Nil situation is vastly different. Their digs might be somewhat comparable. Do you leave knowing that the digs ain’t gonna be nicer? I’m not talking about top one, even two round guys, money drastically changes as you fall. Minor league baseball and SEC baseball, which pay is better, which conditions are better? I’m not talking round 1, 2…

Top 50 picks will all make north of ~$2M. Burns signed for more than Skenes at over $9M. Top 80 make more than $1M. Slot value for >100 is less than $800K. Top SEC school with great development should look great to folks not in top 70. Depending on family goals and economic situation, full scholarships, some NIL $, and better travel and living conditions bode well for TN in recruiting.

The next wave of litigation will probably involve baseball, softball, and other sports not included in the big three.

Now colleges can pay athletes directly and not use NIL collectives. That may end some collectives, or they may move inside an athletic department (what Tulane did for the most part).

And, some athletic departments are reworking their staffing now. For example, Oklahoma (not exactly an underfunded athletic department) laid off fifteen people in the last few weeks.

Collectives will still be important and used. Any collective can sign a player up to 600K without it having to go to a review board.

$600.00 …just why do you insist on exercising your right to display ignorance?

Approving (limiting) contract values through a clearinghouse will not pass muster in the courts.
