I have heard bits and pieces but I am not convinced that he can control himself for three hours a day. And I suspect that he will be towing the company line for state run radio.
Hope I am wrong though because he does do a really good job on breaking down what goes on offensively and defensively.
I like his show until he starts acting childish. If he can get away from that, he will have a great show
Hopefully he'll produce and/or work the board for Erik, but I'd be surprised if he continues in that time slot. I wouldn't be shocked if he were to move to the earlier show. Radio is notorious for blowing out staff though... especially when there's out of town ownership.
Cumulus is buried in debt from station acquisitions. They may not survive short of a reorganization that wipes out all of the equity and ownership is transferred to the bond holders.
This. All of this. Which makes the blowing out of the NSSP out quite surprising to me, from the way that show seemed to be branded, I assume that KNS pays, at least in part, for that air time, much the same way that Basillio does. Unless, my assumption in the above quote proves true, then it would make a little more sense.
I'll miss him on RTI. I thought he had good chemistry with the guys over there.
I remember when TSR was folding and Ainge sounded like he was done with radio at the time. I guess he didn't like having a mundane sales job. Who could blame him?
The KNS pays for that air time, but Gannett ownership was less dedicated to the concept than Scripps/Journal was.
The Sports Page was the lowest-rated show on the station by far. The KNS was footing the bill for the time, but at a much lower rate than WNML was pulling for the other shows. Ainge is supposedly also selling ads for the station, so selling his own show with a known brand like him will easily make more than they were clearing from the KNS. Hate it for Vince, hope he will stick around in some role.
By far, huh? That's surprising. I can't wrap my brain around how they were rated lower than the morning show, outside of morning drive naturally being more conducive to listeners and ratings. Not that the NS co-hosts made for great radio hosts, but I at least found it pretty informative hearing from members of the print media that were more regularly at the practices, etc. They also sounded like they actually do show prep before cracking the mic. Instead of sounding like they're opening a web browser to find things to talk over each other about for a few hours.
Dang it.. On the same time swain is... Wonder how that will go over seeing how them two are friends.. I I ow some of you don't like swain, but I do, but I loved eriks show when he was on.. I'm torn..lol
As much as it's maligned on message boards, the ratings for the morning show are very good. I'm as surprised a anyone, but in their target demo, men 25-54, they're consistently top-3 in the market.
