Well judged drive on a links course with windy conditions translates to low and straight, imo. Don't want to get that ball hung up in the breeze or blown left or right by the swallows...

Yep, low and controlled. That's how Watson hung in before, shotmaking and control are key. That's why Phil has no chance, he can only work the ball by moon shotting it, coupled with soft greens with little spin, he's there for the sake of it.

I grew up on a course outside of G'burg with some nasty wind tunnels. Learned to hit it straight and true. Prodigious swings are great at Fall Creek Falls, though...
