Same here. IT 30 years. Until I built my gaming rig earlier this year, I haven't had a true gaming PC in probably 10-15 years. Had my Acer Nitro 5 that had a 1050 in it and for most of the stuff I wanted to play on PC, that was fine. Civilization, GTA, cities skylines. I have always preferred PlayStation for sports games and most FPS games. Anti-cheating is a bit better on console, but modding was always almost nonexistent.25 years in IT, the last 10 in Cyber. Once I broke into that side of the industry, my time in front of the screen when not at work crashed. Granted, I have to keep systems at home for work, but I avoid them wherever possible. Something about going over to this side (at least for me) broke me from wanting to be near a keyboard or monitor. In fact, it’s off and on again with the consoles too.
I haven't played it, but it really seems like a game for people who were fans already. either of the game or the series. they definitely weren't trying to expand their player base.I watched a few people playing it on YouTube. Looks pretty good, but my goodness it looks slow and boring as crap.
Same. I'm in front of a computer all day long. The last thing I want is to sit in front of one when I game. Plus I was in the PC game for several years, but eventually I came back to console. I just like the simplicity of it and when I was into PC gaming, I was relentlessly thinking about upgrading. The idea that I could always upgrade something to eek out more frames or pixels obsessed me, to the point where I cared more about that than just enjoying gaming. God bless those who enjoy PC's, but for me, console will always be king.I'm console for life. Teaching kids nowadays is pretty much just using your computer all class.
Sure, I actually teach them, but still: Their assignments are digital, I have to grade digitally, I even sometimes have to leave videos when I'm out: digitally.
So yeah, I understand PC gaming, and it's fun, but I'm with UTK on this one.
Not to kick off a PC vs console argument, but I think you described more than just the PC side of things. even on consoles people obsess about the newest/shiniest bit. whether that was a new console, or the next iteration of a game that is released yearly with little to no mechanical changes in the game itself.Same. The only thing about consoles I didn't like, is that you were limited to 60 fps. I think PS5 and XBox can kiiiind of do 100 fps now. I think they claim 120 fps, but i don't think they can reliably do that. And after experiencing a140-180 hz monitor with 160+ framerates in most games, I am starting to spend more time on my PC than console. Such a difference. Not to kick off a PC vs console argument, but I think you described more than just the PC side of things. even on consoles people obsess about the newest/shiniest bit. whether that was a new console, or the next iteration of a game that is released yearly with little to no mechanical changes in the game itself.
the PS5 has 4 editions. and isn't even 5 years old. my PC is older than that, I haven't had to tweak it, and I still get better performance.
how many cosmetic microtransactions have been squeezed out of video game players?
I think its just the nature of video games/humans. we always obsess about the next biggest thing, and its not confined to the PC side of it.
unless I do a side by side comparison its honestly usually pretty difficult for me to tell. I don't do much PvP so, it doesn't matter a ton to me for that either. The only thing about consoles I didn't like, is that you were limited to 60 fps.
