The Dreaded Event: Jalen Hurd

Jalen Hurd represents the Grunt in the Vols offense, without Heard, team 120's offense is not as formidable....

Enter Georgia minus Nick Chubb

Switch Dobbs to RB and Guarantano is the QB.

Seriously though, didn't TN do something like this in the late 1960s/early 1970s. Dennis Chadwick possibly?

I know, jinx this and voodoo that.

So how do we hold up as an offense if we lose Jalen to injury? How many games could it cost us? I hope and pray we don't have a Nick Chubb Event.

What's the effect Volnation?

I'm not normally supportive of censorship, but you're making this incredibly hard.

Ban hammer

Every time I see "ban hammer" I think of Jan Hammer, which makes me think of Miami Vice, which makes me think of Sonny Crockett, which makes me think of Davy Crockett, who was the very embodiment of the Tennessee Volunteer, which makes me think of Vols football, which makes me think of VolNation, which makes me think of posters who start threads like this one, which makes me think "Ban hammer!"

I'm stuck in a loop.

Alvin Kamara steps in and takes control. He's almost as big, seems faster, and kills in open field.

i was with you till the Almost as big part...

Alvin Kamara is 5'10 195

Jalen Hurd is 6'4 240

if thats almost the same size then im almost as big as Shaq

That is exactly how I arrived at the response

I really feel like if Dobbs had no that choice but to take it all in his back it might force him to shine brighter....not to mention Kamara and Kelly are pretty damn great back up options.

Carlin Fils-Aime gets more playing time than he night have counted on when he got here.

Damn silly thread though. OP, go out there and straddle that electric fence while I turn it on.

Jalen comes out with a cast on his leg, looks Butch squarely in the eye & says, " I can WIN IT coach " !!! Dobbs hands the ball off @ the Georgia 10, Jalen breaks a tackle @ the 4 & finishes off that poor kid he ran over last year as he limps into the End Zone, hands the ball to the ref & carries the Georgia player to the sideline to a chorus of boo's as Chubb stands there, hands on hips, with a look of amazement on his face !!! NCAA Grants Tennessee permission to replace Hurd's number on his uniform with a Superman " S " to entice him to return for his senior year !!! Gonna dream, Dream Big !!!

So you're getting some hate for this post lol. While others have pointed out, Kamara isn't as big as Hurd, (25 lbs lighter, 5.5 inches shorter...who was trying to say he was 45 lbs lighter?? Look up a roster for gods sake), he is faster, and is definitely harder to get a hold of in the open field. As to us being ok if Hurd went down..Jamal Lewis was 6'1, 240 lbs. Went down in the 4th game against Auburn. Steps in Travis Henry, who was 5'9, 220 lbs. This would be a pretty similar shift in type of running back as it was in 1998, and I think that turned out ok for us. Then we have unproven John Kelly, who I read on these forums that if not for Hurd and Kamara in front of him he would be raising eyebrows in a big way.
