The Draft was sad

What makes it worse is the talent gap between us and our rivals is continuing to widen. We brought in some good freshman this year, but our rivals are bringing in so much more. Pruitt is a good coach , but he just doesn’t have what it takes to overcome that gap neither.
Lol

Surprised that people are surprised that people on a 4-8 and 5-7 team didnt get drafted. Dont get your hopes up for a few more years..

You have no clue if Pruitt has it or not. I cant believe ESPN let you go from your job.

Maybe, maybe not but CJP has an extensive resume of success and his staff is stacked with experienced winners as well.

The resumes of Dooley and Jones were very shallow to say the least. Blame Josh Dobbs for keeping Jones around longer than he should have been here. He added 2-3 years to CBJ tenure.

This is so true that it hurts. I was so naive when Dobbs was here. I truly thought he was the problem with the offense in a lot of situations and games and that he held us back sometimes. Then he left and the train went off the track and burst into flames. Ive never been more wrong about a guy while he wore the orange.

Me too especially his first year of starting.

I thought the same until I saw him run....and was like "This dude can make plays and win games with them weird long legs".

Agree, too many of us fail to realize just how good Josh was. He made up for a hell of a lot of weaknesses that are exposed now.

Oh i know, he was always in-game fast and had just enough shimmy and intelligence to rarely get plastered, other than that one time on the goal line vs App st lol he also rarely ever got ran down, even by guys who ran much better 40 times. Ive always wondered how his career woulda gone somewhere like Ohio state. Give him a real team, real coaches and he woulda possibly been a legendary college qb with his intelligence and skill set. Plus he was taking a crazy academic course load on top of all the other bs he had to deal with under Butch.

Im bored today so i did a little research. In the 4 classes Butch recruited from 2013-2016 he landed ( according to 247 composite)

2- 5 stars
44- 4 stars
29- top 250 overall players
3- top 5 juco players

And produced a total of 9 NFL draft picks from UT.
1- 1st rounder
3- 3rd round
3- 4th round
2- 6th round

Miserable.

Can’t believe I supported that idiot Butch Jones.

Almost makes me want to turn in my VFL card.

Amazing how bad Butch was at developing players and getting good coaches.

Everyone here wanted Butch to succeed. Some of us just put aside blindly coach worshipping and saw the BS Butch was selling was actually BS....

I don't give a poop about the NFL Draft. We knew we had NO TALENT! I'm focusing on the Next 3 years with CJP. It's going to change Dramatically and Soon.

It just shows you that we have either done a very poor job of preparing players or evaluating them. I am afraid that it is more of a case of preparing them and we still don't know if we have improved in that area

I think that it's how underdeveloped and not properly coached they were. Only two practices and meetings a week don't cut it. Plus, Jones allowed certain players to run the team. I believe that Pruitt tried his best to make them better. Unfortunately, though, these boys were already fully cooked by the inept coaching of one Lyle Allen Jones and the "greatest staff on Earth".
