Well. I was going to make a poll to see who is actually concerned about the DL for next year. However, I screwed the pooch and failed to click add poll. I am ashamed and ask for your forgiveness.

Heard we are playing McCullers in both tackle spots at the same time so we can rush 3 ends.

ThE DL situation will work out just fine. We have openings next year to play on the biggest stage, in the best conference, in the league...immediately. DLs are big but they aren't stupid and most recognize we offer the fastest track to the next level.

Now I ain't gonna sit here and lie...these coaches know what they are doing. It all will work itself out...CBJ gets it and that's that.

One thing I have noticed about the DT's we are after, the vast majority of them are JUCOS. I wonder if we are actually after any high school DT's for next year. Just seems like an unusually high number of JUCO DT's we're after.

We are looking to take 2 JUCO DTs in this class.

Let me preface this with - I know it's still very early for the '14 class -

But do other teams have this much difficulty recruiting DT's? It seems like we have inexplicably struggled in this area over the last few years.

Out of the South, Tennessee usually has the worst instate defensive linemen class, besides maybe Kentucky and now Missouri, which makes it very hard to go and recruit those guys. They are always having to go into Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, Mississippi and else to find help.

That's why Barnett and Mosley are so important in my opinion. If this state can begin to produce a few more defensive linemen, or something similar to this season where there are several legitimate SEC targets, it will go a long ways to helping there.

28 of the top 50 DTs are already committed. About half of the 28 are going to schools outside their home state. It's all about early evaluation and early offers IMO.

Think they would like to bring in 2 of each, if they can get them. With the offense Jones is running, 3 and outs don't leave much rest time between series. It is important to have depth, especially with the biggest guys. I would look at the depth chart for DL more as a rotation than who is 1st or 2nd team.

You go with the JUCO guys that can give immediate playing time. The guys out of HS, no matter how good they are, will likely play less until they get a full dose of the S & C program.

In the future, I look for the team to have more guys playing during the game on both sides of the ball, and fewer guys carrying clip boards, and warming the bench. It will make Bob Kesling's job harder keeping up, but I don't listen to him anyway.
