The difference between Tennessee and other states

Surprisingly I see many vol fans here in stl. Stayed downtown this weekend for a bachelor party (ironically at the same hotel as the Stanford girls) but saw many ppl in vols attire. I'm sure they bought final four tickets early expecting to see tn play, but still good to see... We have also found a rather large alumni group to watch football games with, good times

d4ster3, where does the alumni group meet to watch games in stl? Graduated from UT with my masters in accounting in '08 and watched most of the games by myself last fall (the rest were with my dad who is a UK grad...). I only went to UT for a year but I'm all Vol now and love seeing all the TN stickers on cars and flags in yards in stl!:)

I think if UT had chosen any other color besides orange it would be different. It's just an ugly color.

At least it is different. When you were getting stomped by Oklahoma a few years ago I couldn't tell who was who.
Your boring, lame colors are identical to Arky's, except not as cool (I like the razorback on the helmet).

No one confuses us with anyone else.
So, what is it like to be second fiddle to OU, dirtbag?

The state of TN is MOSTLY UT fans. The one exception is Memphis (its 6-7 hrs away)!
There are lots of So Ga people that are FSU fans, SW Ark people that are Texas fans, ect........
UT football is the most popular sport in Tennessee....... bigger than the Titans.

Give me a break!

Hey gasman I wouldn't call getting beat 37-27 or 20-13 a stomping by any means. OU scored 2 tds late in the game at Norman for the margin. BAMA is Crimson and White while the Sooners are Crimson and Cream.

Having moved from East TN to Nashville 3 years ago, the difference is quite evident. I work in a fairly large office and I am one of only a handful (of about 300) who bleed orange (I am surrounded by mostly Vandy fans at work). Alot of that is becuase most people in this area aren't native to TN - Nashville is a cultural melting pot. Some came here to go to Vandy so thereto lies thier pride. I think the same is true for East TN. There is a lot more orange the further east you go, and again, people move there to attend UT so their pride (and usually thier family's pride as well) lies with UT. I am sure it is much worse in West TN.

Regardless....I will be at the O&W game Saturday and I cannot wait for the season to start! GO BIG ORANGE!

You lost, that is the point. Your Maroon looks just like their maroon and Arky's maroon. By the way, do you know where your people got crimson from? Harvard. You people apparently have such a complex that you were imitating Harvard to get your colors. That is about as unique and original as the numbers on the helmet. Nothing to do with the state or the university. LAME!

You are right. There is diversity of fans everywhere there is a vibrant economy. If a state has no diversity of fans at all it is because no one is moving there.
Sometimes it is a little frustrating to see a group of people proudly wearing the colors of a rival in your home state but VOLS football is the biggest sport following in TN by far.

Regardless of the number of fans in any given area, the class shown by random Vol fans all over the world never disappoints. Try saying that for a bammer or gator.

GO VOLS!!!!!

It's all about perception. When I'm out of the state, I notice more UT stuff because it's like we are representing in our rivals' territories, and I feel like it's our duty to do that in lesser states like.... well there are about 49 of them, so I won't list any specifics (don't wanna hurt any feelings). But when I see non-UT stuff in Tennessee, it's like these d-holes are taking over.

i live in the boro and its very mixed here....pretty much every SEC school is represented here except south carolina (never see any of their fans)....just wondering does anyone consider it blasphamey to pull for another SEC team when they're arn't playing UT?....for example i have some good friends in Baton Rouge and i love going down there, its a wonderful place, anyway i pull for LSU most of the time unless them winning harms UT in anyway

In charleston, I see at least 2-3 power T's a day just on my way to and from work. It continues to suprise me how many vol fans are down here in the low country.

GO VOLS.

I live in northern Virginia in Winchester. because being so close to other states you also see their decals....Va Tech, WV, UVA, Maryland and Penn State in that order...BUT !!! UT is still very well represented here and you see Orange very often....The difference is that UT fans blow their horn, yell, wave or what ever when they see another fan....Very proud and know the Orange on their bumper or their window means something more than just a decal. The sun never sets upon the Orange Nation !!

Apparently you're in the wrong part of Tennessee. :)

My husband and I were in the Grand Bahamas two years ago and I had on my vols hat walking down the beach. Some guy hollered GO VOLS!!! OMG! It was awesome! I told my husband "We're EVERYWHERE!" lol

I got one better, I was in the Andes mountians in Peru this past december and some peruvian man walked by me with a UT shirt on haha!!...He didn't speak english and my spanish is not too good but I pointed at my hat and he gave me a thumbs up! :good!:

I never felt out of place with my UT stuff in Winchester (my wife is from there). Been to a few Apple Blossoms festivals in my time :p

POWER T's are all over Jville. You go to football fanatics and they're sold out of UT stuff. The Lady says they can't keep it, sells out to fast.

I guess that's why the Big Orange Caravan comes down here. Cause we representin :) GO VOLS

LOL, you're right. You win! That is awesome.

It drives me batty that I see tons of FLA hats/flags/etc now. Its funny that before Tebow and the 2NC you never saw that around Chattanooga. Bandwagon???....YES

So is there any truth to the rumor that you can now purchase Power T license plates in the state of GA?

Why is it that when you go to Alabama or Florida or Georgia, every other car you see has a sticker of license plate of something of their state team. You go into a restaurant in Alabama and everyone is wearing crimson. In Tennessee, you're hard pressed to find another UT fan. There are more Alabama fans in Nashville than Tennessee fans. We live in a neighborhood of 400 houses and there is only one other family in the neighborhood that are Tennessee fans. The rest are Alabama, Florida and LSU fans.

It's just very annoying.

That couldn't be further from the truth. You must have meant a neighborhood of 400 trailers to see nothing but Bammers. Kidding of course...Bama joke.

The Bama fans in Nashville are mostly Vanderbilt fans that got sick of being terrible 20 years ago and they all switched to Bama because they hated UT anyway.I say this because I remember growing up that's how it was with my stepdad and all of his friends. They were co-Vandy/Bammers.
