There are a case load of the people in this thread that need to learn the difference.

Last night was clearly a team of fired up, ready to go players who are simply not developed enough to go all the way yet.

In years past I'd have been very frustrated with what happened last night, but seeing how things have over the past 2 coaching changes, suddenly I'm struck with a lot more patience.

I have faith in these players and our coaching staff. Let's go.

I agree.

1. Your starters can play with anyone if they can keep up the energy.

2. Your offensive line was pretty impressive for being so young. Our O-line was like yours this time last year when we were embarrassed by Boise State, they will only get a lot better.

3. Once we made you throw the ball to move the offense the game was over... your top reciever was out, Matt Simms is pretty new, and we like to blitz.

4. Your defensive scheme was great, Justin Wilcox had a great gameplan... I think he was disappointed to find out the Darron Thomas was more composed and efficient than anyone thought he would be.

Having read literally a hundred posts since the end of last nights game, seriously some folks here need to get a grip.

Having been through a few "rebuilding" years as a Duck fan, I can say that last night I saw a group of young players get beat. They made mistakes, but they were well coached, and there's plenty of talent. The truth is, they need more time. This Tennessee team will get better every game. I'll be pulling for a bowl game for them, and I'm NOT looking forward to seeing them at Autzen in a couple years. THAT will be a scary team.

Dooley's going the right direction, and it's a young team. Seriously-put down the Kool-aid and enjoy watching them grow and develop. It's going to get better, and way sooner than some folks think.

My 2 cents.

Dooley better make those kids RUN, then RUN AGAIN, and just when they r tired of RUNNING, they should RUN some more. the whole team should be held accountable for the QUIT they all displayed after the pick 6. it was embarrassing. so COACH can help and put my foot in their asses at next practice??

Also - for Simms...the pick 6 isn't the problem, it's a symptom. Anything with symptoms can't be cured overnight, and the cure for the symptoms that Simms is demonstrating is more coaching, more learning and more work on the field.

Thanks for the props Surf and Mad. I agree. I'm looking forward to the rematch. It should be fun.

They didn't quit. They were exhausted. Dooley said we have a first string and third string but no second. Our starters gave it all and their backups don't have the experience. Those players did everything but quit last night.

We have ZERO depth. Our players came out strong and if the game was played by only 2 qtrs we would've won but the first 11 cant keep bringing it like that every single play the entire game. Guys we have no 2's. The lack of depth showed big time lastnight and it'll take another year to replace it. Hopefully by the end of the year we should be starting to pick it up but next year we should see a difference. Coaching was fine, clearly shown by how fired up our guys played and how the starters never let up.

The pick 6 was questionable decision making on the part of Simms imo, but I also think it was a completion if the defender didn't sniff it out so early. I give props to the defender just as much or more than I think Simms made an errant throw.

Yeah last night didn't surprise me at all. I normally get frustrated when we play poorly but last night it didn't happen. I think they will get better with time they made quite a few mistakes at the end of the game but the first half I was happy. The tackling was horrible at the end that cost us big time.

How long do we need to continue to have patience before it becomes unacceptable how far our program has fallen?

I've been hearing for YEARS now... "Just a couple more years and we will be back" or "Just give it a some time"

We havn't won the SEC in over a decade. We can't even beat Florida or Alabama anymore. Does anyone remember the last time we beat either team?

Will you shut up about patience already. It's time to stop being patient and start making changes at the top.

Good posts SurfDuck and MadDuck. The Duck fans I met, like you, seemed to be very knowledgeable about football in general. We will be back. Go VOLS!!!

Nice posts MadDuck & SurfDuck. This team will get better quickly. I look forward to making the trip to Eugene in 2013 for a rematch!

Problem is we don't play in the PAC-10. We play an average of 4-5 teams each year that are top-10 recruiting machines every season; we don't play just 1 such opponent, as Oregon usually does. If we can't compete against a team that has never had a top-10 recruiting class, we won't be competing for anything more than South Carolina style 7 win seasons.

Yes, some(most) of the folks need to get a grip but I must apologize, we do have too many head coaches on here.

Uh-huh. Knew the SEC thing would rear it's ugly head.

The PAC-10 is not the SEC's ugly step-kid. We have held our own against the SEC year in and year out. (check the records). I would NEVER disrespect the SEC, it's a great conference with great teams, so why don't you leave that card in your wallet next time.

Have a great year, I know LOTS of Duck fans will be pulling for y'all!

Let's see how they respond for the next two games. I want to see fight for all four quarters against Florida regardless of the outcome. And, then, a solid performance and victory over UAB.

If we can acquit ourselves well over the next two weeks, we should be a better team and at least have a shot at 6-7 wins.

Our lack of depth will end up hurting us all year. However, the team has shown lots of heart, and I am excited about the prospects for the future. Of course the future could end up bleak if we get hammered with NCAA "Lane Penalties".
