This doesnt mean as much as it might seem right now. Fact is that DeSantis has not declared. Trump gets the CPAC bump because he has been the one talked about in the last 30 days while DS avoided CPAC and went elsewhere.
Also, there are a number of lesser candidates that are not trump/ds that split the not Trump crowd. That is why Trump is hoping for a crowded field.
In the end, I think it comes down to Trump vs DeSantis as everyone else doesnt make it past the first few primaries - and its impossible to say how that will go right now.
So much of it depends on how each fight their primary battle. Does DeSantis thread the needle to praise Trump's policies while making it clear DS has the better temperament to actually get the policies implemented or does he misstep and get into the mud with Trump? Similarly, does Trump go full feral on DS and his Trump Only base get a bit tired of it or does it weaken Ron by not being seen as a fighter? hard to say. Lot of opportunity for major gaffes.
