The bill of rights does not say the word "citizen" it says "person."

The founders were very particular about this. When they meant citizen, they said citizen. Like the rule about eligibility for presidency. The bill of rights protects persons. Nobody is safe in a country where the POTUS violates the bill of rights, defies the courts, then claims he doesn't have the power to restore order, and leaves the mess as is. Hopefully nothing happens, but anybody who thinks this is out of the realm of possibility is not facing the reality of Trump.

You cannot deport citizens. That was the entire meaning of my post.

Stop feat mongering. He has not deported American citizens. He deported an illegal
Immigrant with ties to MS-13 and beat his wife.

He's not an illegal immigrant, actually. He had protected status to be here. There is no proof he has ties to MS-13. He has no criminal history. All they got on him is he was stopped with some hoods in his neighborhood 6 years ago, and a lying informant who said he was part of the Westerns clique, which is in Long Island where has never lived. It's flimsy as ****. Give him due process and let the courts decide if he's a criminal.

Trump is literally talking out loud about how to deport American citizens.

“We’re studying the laws right now,” Trump said of sending U.S. citizens convicted of violent crimes to El Salvadoran prisons. “If we can do that, that’s good. And I’m talking about violent people. Really bad people. Every bit as bad as the ones coming in.” He also suggested that Bukele should build “five more” prisons to make room for Americans.

Really bad people, every bit as bad as the ones coming in? You mean like Kilmar? The guy with no criminal history?

You're saying it's illegal. What would stop Trump? The courts told him not to send the plane, he said **** you, and now throws his hands up like he has no power. Why couldn't that happen to a citizen? You're talking about how things are supposed to work, not facing the insanity of what is the Trump admin.

He didn't have protected status, he was only protected from being deported to his home country. He could have been deported to any other country that would take him. Where he was sent is the only issue.

The planes were already sent when a verbal and questionable order was issued.

I take my like back. He can be deported to any other country, that is true, but the "withhold from removal" status does allow him to legally reside and work in the United States. So yes, Trump can deport him anywhere else, but he was not illegal.

what exactly was the nature of his protected status?

This is about American citizens. I couldn't care less if this guy is ultimately deported again. This is about drawing lines in the sand with this administration. If this isn't reversed, there is nothing stopping them from doing this to ANYBODY, citizen or otherwise. The government's argument doesn't turn in the least on his status. It's simply that once someone is in the hands of a foreign government, there's nothing that can be done remedy the situation.
In the context of your stated concerns, I don't think that statement is even close to true.

The Trump admin's response is: He is an ES citizen in ES. It's out of our hands.
The ES President's reply is: What do you want me to do? Smuggle an ES citizen into the US?

There is no claim that there would be no recourse for a US citizen. It seems that you are mischaracterizing the situation.

He was illegal, hence the fact that he could be deported to anywhere except his home country.

FYP. Wasn't 3 years ago the idea of reeducation camps was being tossed around.

Out of here with that liberal originalism.

More of the same stupidity. Deporting a legal taxpayer who is married to an American and has a child to provide for. This is the dumbest fkn admin imaginable.

This man is basically the new George Floyd. I want to build a statue of him hitting his wife and maybe start a scholarship fund for MS 13 members in his name

Great post. Both because its true, and its hilarious. Also because these Dimwits are dumber than putting a flaming bag of 🐕 💩 on your own porch. Which amazingly is also exactly what they're trying to do...on everyones "porch".

Got to be cautious with these tweets. A marriage doesn't mean immigration considers the relationship bona fide.

Yeah or right wing administrations just trot out ad hominem propaganda when they want your support as they break the law, and people like you fall for it every. single. time.

"Please, he doesn't get 'rights' and we don't need to follow the 'law', are you serious? This is a Very Bad Guy, we don't treat them like humans!"
