Yeah the weather did suck especially for my friend who is a gamecock fan and refused to buy a UT poncho lol. Also got 2 see the black uni's for probably the first and last time. Great showing by the Vols

if he were like me and dressed as an a-hole in his bathrobe for that halloween night game, he would have stayed a little warmer :)

Obviously as Vol fans we all know about Lattimore, Garcia (who seems to be 37 years old at this point and who is on his 6th chance), Alshon Jeffery etc and an offense that averaged 30 plus and is largely intact...

Unless you never followed recruiting at all, you know about Clowney. He is probably the best defensive player from the last year and should have an immediate impact as a true freshman. They had 41 sacks last year and Devin Taylor is back to line up across from Clowney...Melvin Ingram had 9.0 sacks and will be a senior this year. There is not a better group of ends in the SEC.

Kelcy Quarles is finally there at DT. We wanted him and Orgeron was chasing him hard, but he signed with USC and resigned with them after a year at Fork Union working on academics. He should be a strong starter immediately.

At LB, they lost two starters, but they have two guys in Shaq Wilson and Paulk who have years of experience and who may have started last year (Shaq definitely would have) if they did not get injured.

Stephon Gilmore and DJ Swearinger are both very solid players in the secondary. They are not as a secondary at the level where they can stop the WR's TN has, but that can only happen if Bray has time to throw, something their DL makes a dicey proposition.

Just a note. Lattimore is 230+ pounds now.

The UGA game will tell us what we need to know, assuming we don't lose to ECU in Charlotte. I am hopeful our secondary won't be an abortion again this year.

They freaking beat Alabama.

I think they will beat UGA and beat us.

I think we will beat UGA and UF this year, but South Carolina will win the East.

I think they will be in the middle of our losses...LSU, Alabama, South Carolina, beat MTSU, lose to Arkansas....

Counter prediction: I think the UT will win. I see us as a sort of USCe in reverse so to speak. The Cocks had good pieces to be competitive last year but weren't seen as a for certain winner. However, they pulled off some unexpected wins to be champions. I think the UT is in a similar position now. We have good pieces in place but aren't a for sure winner. Add a touch of luck here and a touch there and we can end up practically duplicating what happened to USC last year. Barring major injuries, I still see us as ending the season at 10-2. Stranger things have happened.

I think the Chickens have a great opportunity to do something special this year.

Their offense could be sick. Garcia has been around for a long time, Alshon is a top-5 pick, Lattimore can be the best back in the SEC, their O-line looks to be very good next year, and I am a big fan of Ace Sanders. I don't think the Chickens get the attention they should, I think they will be very good.

The D has some questions and not a ton of experience but I am a big fan of their DC, that man can coach. Clowney could have an instant impact on the D just like Lattimore sparked the offense last year.

I can't wait until they come to Athens, it should be a real good game.

we've got someone to defend Sakerlina here. I was worried about people not taking them seriously enough.

Worley is one player.....Clowney is one player......its a team sport hoss

Worley got sacked by him like 4 times that game...Worley goes to throw 5 td's. Point is, he doesn't phase us and their team is gonna be average.

I may not know what I'm talking about but I doubt that Worley would play in this game this year.

To me, its kinda of scary the classes Spurrier has put together the last 3 years and the momentem he is building. I hope that with his age that his days are numbered and he hangs it up before they become perennial contender each year for the east. If he does retire soon and we are on the upswing, hopefully we can start going back into S.C. and start getting their "blue chip" players

I don't fear Spurrier. I hope he does well and hang around for payback. In the past he competed with UT coaches who were as predictable as a bowl of cornflakes. Such a bowl always has cornflakes in it and you knew it. Tennessee will always be Tennessee he said and he was right. You actually could predict what plays we'd run and even the game plan from game to game. But with Dooley, we got a different breed of coach. I'd love to see us kick the rear of a very good Spurrier team and tell him you can't spell SUCK without USC.

On another note, USCe does appear to have the talent, and coaching, to make another run in the East. And I agree that the USCe-UGA game will tell us a lot about both teams.

Florida? Who knows? New staff, new schemes, but a ton of young talent.

For now, and even with me being a rabid Vol fan, I have to think it's (1) USCe, (2) Florida or Georgia, (3) the other one, (4) UT, (5) UK, and (6) Vandy.

USCe has no where to go but down. UF and UGA could go up one, or down two. UT is a dark horse. As high as #2, and as low as #5. UK is #2 at best, and right where they are at worst.

Vandy is the model of consistency here. Paint the cellar gold and black. They own it. It is what it is.

One thing the SEC conference schedule does every year is weed out the "pretenders".

So, we'll see how it shakes out.

Go Vols.

It'll take some serious work by Spurrier and the Columbia PD to keep Garcia on that team.

He can't retire until Lou Holtz does, so he's got a guaranteed spot in the booth on Gameday.

Keep in mind that with our most depleted roster in recent history, the best team they've ever had, us fumbling 3 punts and them playing at home the game was still tied midway through the 4th...

Point is this is still USCe we're talking about...let's not forget that it took the most down year in the history of the SEC east and the best team they've ever had for them to win anything of note...

And consider the years that they've beaten us recently...05, 08 and 10...do I need to remind everyone how those seasons ended...

USCe better enjoy their time in the spotlight and make the most of it...UT, UF, and UGA won't all be down in the same year very often

I think we came out against UT thinking we had it won. Nonetheless, the game was very much in doubt in the fourth.

I acknowledge that the East was down, but that isn't our fault. We did what was required to get to Atlanta.
