The DEATH of a Football Powerhouse Program...

Yeah I was at the game tonight and I had to get up and leave after the Berry interception. The fact that our O can't even make a freakin first down after the D works so hard to give them great oppertunities just makes me sick.

I wouldn't call it a death. After all, the team was SEC East champions last year and won their bowl.

To borrow a mathematical term, the program is nearing the bottom of a bell curve. Nowhere to go but up...however long that takes.

I think the next 4-6 years will be serious rebuilding years for the program as they attempt to iron out their rough spots, recruit strong talent, and return to where they were in the 90s as a legitimate competitor on the national stage. Michigan is in the exact same scenario except they're one step ahead of UT regarding hiring a new coach.

I wouldn't call it a death either. I also don't think it would take 4-6 years. I think 2-3 years at the most with the right coach.

No offense, but that notion makes me want to throw up. You either win the conference or you don't. We weren't "champions" of anything last year.

Just to think that programs like Tennessee, Michigan, Nebraska, and Notre Dame have been "replaced" in the national spotlight with teams like USF, Boise State, and Texas Tech just goes to show that name recognition doesn't mean a whole lot. The name might carry the program for a few years but all successful programs have to stay aggressive and make necessary adjustments in a timely manner. The time for Tennessee has come. Thank you CPF for the memories. I will always hold you in high regard no matter how awful this year turns out, that means even if we don't win another game. But once the clock hits zeros on the final game of the season, get your stuff and kindly exit stage left. You are done!

I bet the ring and trophy Tennessee got for that is huge.

I don't know exactly when the players surrendered.

Fulmer ran up the white flag when UT punted with 10 minutes and change on the clock in the 4th quarter.

I've been a fan since Bill Battle.Sometimes you go down. The hope has to be that this AD gets the message and sends Phil packing. He's been done for 2-3 years but the talent has played through his bad coaching but it cant any longer.

Living up in Ky,if UK and Vandy can pull out of the cellar so can UT and probably quicker.
