The day after

My top picks from yesterday that actually did change the game flow and outcome :
#1 Second half, Bamas around the 40 yrd line , it's 3rd down and they call our guy for PI when he barely brushed the receivers jersey. Even the announcers said it was a bad call but it gave them a 1st down when they should have been punting or kicking a FG.
#2 Overturning the first down call on the run by JM where they replayed it about 50 times to reach the desired conclusion ---the effort the ref's went to to stall a drive is over the top.
#3 Calling delay of game for our defensive guy clapping his hands...he wasn't even on the line, in fact to far from it to even be heard by the line.; He clearly was not trying to draw them off sides.
#4 Bama's offensive line not only holding, but actually taking down our rush defense giving Milroe all day to pass or run, especially in the 2nd half.

Vegas had public money riding on Tennessee to win or cover. The SEC (who employs the officials) has a monetary interest in getting two teams into the playoffs. The officiating for the duration of the game worked out so that both got what they wanted.

I’m no conspiracy theorist, and I’m damn sure not a plastic surgeon… but I know a bad boob job when I see it

Something needs to be done, but nothing will. Been going on for years and years now and only gets worse

Money brings corruption and we see that with how greedy sports now is with sports betting, NIL, etc. Sad what’s become of college football

Saban sure was in a good mood before the game at halftime and definitely after the game. Guy is never that cheery..

I noticed the same. Even though they were getting the dogsh!t beat out of them at halftime. He never acted upset which is not in his nature.

With the money NCAA makes, they have finally let the players get some through a round about avenue called NIL. Now, they need to start a full time company where officials train full time and have full time pay and benefits and get younger officials with no other side job. Some of these guys take plays off some are in their 50s and do the best they can but some are out of shape and eyesight questionable. They work their normal jobs all week and then do these games. All these guys are big sports fans they got into Officiating because they love the game and were not very good players but wanted to still be a part of the game. So guess what some like you and me have favorite teams they pull for and with all these gambling sites on line, I wouldn't trust anyone. 28% of people in America bet on football games 73.5 million, up 57 % since 2022 a rapid growth. Whether its in Vegas or online like venues like Fan side. They need the Officials to be full time job and train in off-season and have better oversight and vetted. Some don't need to call games for their favorite team or schools that friends and relatives go to and bet on. Theirs a ton of money being made some straight up and some not so much.

It's been said already, but how is that going to change officials showing bias during certain games? This isn't a matter of incompetence (although there is plenty of that), it's about calls and marks that are crystal clear to anyone watching in real time being missed, and blatantly so.

Hiring full time officials and training them doesn't eliminate the inherent bias and especially the gambling issue, which is the real issue. And as someone else mentioned, there will never be any kind of investigation, because the last thing the NCAA or any conference wants to do is open up that can of worms. It will be forgotten in a matter of days, and if you read most national media accounts of the game, the officiating isn't even mentioned.

Until the strip 6 we were still in the game. The refs didn’t lose the game for us, we did. When the pressure was on we started with the false starts and missing/dropping passes.

Bottom line it was a game of two halves and they won’t theirs by 14 more.

Defund the SEC. I have always said the Alabama plays by a different set of rules than the rest of the conference. What further evidence do you need?

What the he'll is that? Never have i seen that called. Let's just make up some shat. Like I said, I may just listen on the radio the rest of the year. I find myself caring way too much and I shouldn't. We all knew they were going to screw us down there..
I would love to listen to the radio, but Kesling would put me to sleep

Officiating was bad all the way around but to use it as an excuse is weak. Herring should’ve been ejected and a 15 yard penalty for the WWE forearm to the RB head as he sat defenseless but no call there. It goes both ways

Officiating in general in the SEC has been pretty suspect this year.
Down right pitiful.

Here’s the issue thou. Refs screw over Heupel, Stoops, Lea, Miss St, Ark, etc and the office will take the call, listen politely, then laugh their ass off after they hang up.

If refs make calls that cost Saban or Kirby Smart a CFP stop, they’re in the Sunbelt or CUSA next year. FACT.

We were still in the game when throwing into the endzone near the end of the game. There were obvious PI/holding calls "missed" on 3rd and 4th down. The zebras absolutely controlled this game. Not sure if we would have won or not, but that is the point.
