The Curse

It's not so much a matter of WHO will challenge Georgia. It will be a gradual beatdown that will take the whole season. My prediction: A battered, beaten Georgia team loses to lowly Nevada in the Papajohns.com bowl capping off a disappointing season...Long live the curse!

I like this. This is exactly what I've been thinking this entire offseason.

Yes it would, but for whatever reason, regional media bias or whatnot, I don't think we'll ever be the media darlings that ohio st or USC are.

If Tennessee won four BCS Championships in a row, we wouldn't be the media darlings that USC and OSU are. If Crompton was in the same situation at USC as he is at UT, he would already be the frontrunner for the heisman.

Must be a regional thing... My SI cover had Mizzou on it. Which would make sense, since I live there.

I would have to agree with you.

Every fan base has that perception. PAC10 fans honestly believe the SEC is the media darling and beneficiaries of higher rankings of teams at times as a result. ie. LSU being ranked number one several times last year even after losing at the end of the season to Arky, and at home.

I honestly have to admit that LSU did receive a lot of pimping from the media last year.

I noticed Sanchez is on the front for USC. I am not so sure why his is getting so much hype either. He was recruited the same year as Crompton. He was #1 and Crompton #2. He got some playing time last year behind Booty but not that much. That is when USC struggled when Sanchez was filling in. They say Crompton is unproven, I think Sanchez is too. Plus Sanchez has been in trouble with off the field issues, at least Crompton hasn't.

Well Sanchez just got hurt. I feel bad for the guy.
LONG LIVE THE CURSE!

i agree as well...
Sanchez already has espn analysts lining up to court him
Not only that but one was a 5 star recruit, #1 in the Nation; whereas, the other was a 4 star....

The recruiting systems are what they are but, for example, the amount of hype they can create with their "System" has a lot to do with that too.

Sanchez was labeled a "Franchise Player" where Crompton, an All-American Candidate.

The ranking system ranks prospects on a numerical scale from 6.1-4.9.

6.1 Franchise Player; considered one of the elite prospects in the country, generally among the nation's top 25 players overall; deemed to have excellent pro potential; high-major prospect

6.0-5.8 All-American Candidate; high-major prospect; considered one of the nation's top 300 prospects; deemed to have pro potential and ability to make an impact on college team

We all know not having a five star rating doesn't mean a kid won't be great but they surely won't receive the hype, initially.

Here’s a star ratings break-down on some of our LSU players who played in and won the last National Championship:

Two star recruit: Jacob Hester

Three star recruits: Brandon LaFell, Tyson Jackson Chevis Jackson, Jonathon Zenon, Trindon Holliday, Jacob Cutrera, Lyle Hitt, Curtis Taylor, Ciron Black, Brett Helms, Shawn Jordan, Harry Coleman, Quinn Johnson, Danny McCray.

Four star recruits: Glenn Dorsey, Ricky Jean-Francois

Five star recruits: Keiland Williams, Early Doucet, Terrance Toliver, and Chad Jones.
