Does Pearl's success put on more or take away the pressure on Phil to produce?

The pressure is higher than it's ever been, but I don't think it is because of Bruce's success.

Urban Meyer winning, Donovan winning, Pat winning, Bruce on the brink of getting to the Final Four all adds pressure on Fulmer.

This has not been a good 2 year stretch for him.

all of our major rivals are on the upswing and Bama has cause for optimism, add that to Bruce's immediate success and Phils seat just got hotter

you got to be kidding....another "bruce is doing good, so Phil is in trouble" thread?

two completely different animals. the only thing making phil's seat warm is the results that have been put up the past few years, it has nothing to do with BP's success....

Fulmer put pressure on himself. If anything, Pearl gives us something to talk about not related to bashing Fulmer every hour.

I agree with that. Coach Fulmer's heat has everything to do with his own success on the gridiron, thats it!!!!!!

We have a good coach that is doing a good job. The pressure is high because this is Tennessee. Relax. We're in good shape.

I think people look at Bruce Pearl and what he has done for basketball and wonder "Why can't we have that in football?"

So yes, Pearl's success is putting some pressure on Fulmer. Fulmer can relieve some of that by winning.

How jealous do you guys think Fulmer is of Pearl's popularity? Some of the quotes I have seen Fulmer make lately indicate some jealousy if you read between the lines.

Pearl v Fulmer is certainly a case study in overperforming versus underperforming. You can't get away from the comparisons between the two coaches - which can easily add to the discontent related to the results from our football program over the past several years.

how can Bruce's success not afffect the fan's perception of Phil? One coach comes in and almost immediately turns a dead in the water program into a winner, the other has run a once championship contender into an also-ran. You dont think that even the casual fan notices the impact a coach can have?

why cant we have that in football? i think teams and coaches pretty much have fulmer figured out, gettin Cut back this year added a spark to our O but the D struggled because teams knew where to hit us and chavis didnt have quite the talent of years prior to work with especially with the losses of inki and harrel... im not sayin its time to get rid of fulmer, its just time for him to step it up and come up with somethin new or slightly different
